Residency Visas, work visas for Uk citizen wanting to live in Colombia

Hi

I am a UK citizen, currently living in France. I have been looking at buying some land in the north of Colombia, building a house and setting up a small business. Sort of semi retirement.

Is this possible?
What sort of visa do I need?
How do i get it?

Types of Visa Well, according to the type of project you have and the money you are willing to spend, you can apply for several options.

1. More than 100.000 dollars: investor visa: gives you the residence.
2. Retired visa( if you receive a pension).
3. Rentista: if you receive each month about 4000 dollars.
4.Owner of commercial establishment: if you own a store, partnership in Colombia whose capital is over 40.000 dollars.

Lawyer Co: I think the Rentista Visa requres $2,000 per month and not $4,000 as you state. This can be in the form of a CD account etc. from the foreign country.

I also understand MRE is flexible when it comes to the amount.

Also the Pensionado Visa reportedly requires 10 x the min. Colombian wage.. Again, MRE has been flexible on this amount. I currently hold the Colombia Pensionado Visa and MRE never ask me for the amount of my pension. I did however supply the retirement amount to the U.S. Embassy when they issued me a letter which I later presented at MRE for the Pensionado visa. Others have had the same experience with MRE in Bogata.

RENTISTA VISA So the rentista visa seems like a good choice, but does anyone actually know the amount....4,000 or 2,000

Rentista visa The amount has been posted many times. I think tomtom33 who holds the visa says it's 2,000 USD (or 3,860,000 cop) I will check and post later.
