Renting in Cartagena

G´day all...

Myself and a couple of mates will be heading to Cartagena for a couple of months to chill and get some sun.
Anyone got any advice, tips regarding rental houses/apartments in or around Cartagena by a beach and all the usual shops etc etc. Any suberb reccomendations?

Also just to be cheeky and ask for more :) Anyone know roughly what it would cost per month to do this for a 2-3 bed place? Apt or House are sound.

Cheers for your help....

In case you haven't been to Cartagena, it is worth bearing in mind that the beach is shit. Also, that everywhere outside of the "old town" is also shit.

If you're looking for a beach experience, I would recommend Santa Marta or San Andres/Providencia.

Juan Ventura rents apartments: http://www.zepelion.com/apartamentos/index.htm. PBHer Cartagena Bound also has apartments for rent.

Leeroy, I agree that the beaches are far from pristine, but the city grooms them daily. I wouldn't describe anything on the Bocagrande Penninsula as shit. Come to think of it, the Castellaña Mall area isn't exactly shit either.

www.cartagenaapartments.com there are 10 pages of rental apartments on this site, some nice some not so nice. There are some nice beaches in the Cartagena area you just have to look. And tomtom is right the city has a great deal to offer and is far from shit.

Don't blame me I voted for Ron Paul!

The best beach is to the north of the city where the Hotel Las Americas is located. It is clean and much bigger then the Boca Grande beaches. The worst part about the beach scene is the vendors that are constantly in your face all day long!!! I suggest you make a sign that says NO MOLESTA POR FAVOR!!! o NO GRACIAS that is the worst part about the beaches in Colombia. The beach in El Rodadero is the worst by far for the vendors.....the most horrible beach in Colombia!

never go to bed with someone crazier then you are, you will do it and you will regret it.......

I've been to Cartagena several times on business and always stay in an apartment in El Laguito, I find it more economical than staying in a hotel because of all the taxes the hotel charges at the end of your stay.

Chele, I am not with you about El Rodadero. The water is blue, the sand is white, the breeze is cool and the vendors are not so annoying. And you have Taganga, el Parque Tayrona, Buritaca and a lot of beautiful beaches within few minutes of boating.
I agree with Leeroy, everywhere outside of the "old town" is shit, including Bocagrande, Laguito, Santillana and la playa del Hotel Las Americas y la Boquilla. Manzanillo is so and so. Barù is almost ok. Islas del Rosario is the perfect example of how to destroy a paradise.
But I know that I must be wrong, looking at the real estate prices in Cartagena...
