Renting in Bogotá, options

Hi. I just rented my apartment in Bogotá - 1,200,000 / month, furnished, estrato 4, etc. It was a fairly easy process but I did need to get all the appropriate paperwork in order, provide a 1 month deposit, and this was done through the apartment owner rather than an agency. I'm sure if I had gone through an agency it would have more difficult as I'm non-Colombia, don't have a cedula, etc.

During my apartment search I found several nice places and several dumps as well.

One place I wanted to mention is Inversiones LAMY (http://www.inversioneslamy.com/home.html) which offers month to month rentals for 1,000,000 COP for furnished apart studios with unlimited Internet access. After seeing all the high prices that are advertised by others, i.e. gringo rates, I wanted to share this info as I'm sure it may benefit some of you.

The only reason I did not rent with them is that I wanted local phone service -- they had free internet / Ethernet in the rooms but did not have local phones installed.

Cheers,
D

Ya Know " Bickerss " The rents in Bogota are all over the financial map .. Hard to figure sometimes . If live up in the 82/83 area and pay 900.000 plus 147,000 admin. for a furnished ( 80 mt ) two bed room ..

The place at Inversiones LAMY is just a studio apartment so not that big -- maybe 40 sq. meters or so. Relative to the other listings I have seen listed here which are typically 1,500,000 and commonly 2,000,000 for a furnished apartment I thought this was a pretty good deal. Granted most of the other places who advertise are in an estrato 5 or 6.

Also if you look around you can find a deal. Sounds like Waterdawg has a pretty good place but I'm not sure how easy it is to find deals like this that do not require lots of paperwork for foreigners, etc.

..con dinero y sin dinero hago siempre lo que quiero
