I came in here to say essentially the same thing that Gator already did.

I don't even like driving a car in Bogota. I would be scared shitless to ride a motorcycle.

ColombianoGringo (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on Nov 5, 2007, 13:10:

My main problem with driving in Bogota is that it in my case, it is always a borrowed car. I am not concerned with getting hurt as much as damaging a relative's car. Most of the accidents you see are low speed. However, on a motorcycle, you could easily get injured very badly even at relatively low speeds. No one in Bogota seems to care much about traffic laws and riders are particularly vulnerable.

not at all only the idiot rider with no experience is vulnerable

Well, Vic Kneivel, you're our hero.

However, since the OP is clearly not familiar with riding a bike in Bogota, I still wouldn't advise it.

CG agree the OP has very little to say on anything

Too funny. I have a pic that would make a great avatar like that, only with a yellow, blue and red top, but La Doña would have my balls if I put it up as my avatar.

Rent a motorcicle and enjoy your time while in Colombia. Except for the ocasional rain motorcicles are the best way to go everywhere in Bogotá and the rest of the country.

Just drive carefully, in an passive agressive mode. Just like posting in PBH. :-)

"Except for the occasional rain..."

That's hilarious, about a city where it rains every day.

I've ridden motorcycles my entire life and in some pretty intense big cities. And my personal opinion is that I wouldn't do it in Bogota unless I absolutely HAD to. Maybe if you're using it to put around a particular barrio, but for serious around-town travel I think it'd be a drag.

well I love hearing from you people who don't want or care about motorbiking....it means there is more room for me....driving in the rain in B/manga is a hoot.....I remember getting caught in a few rain storms in Canada...and man you can freeze your ass off in no time...hear its a nice shower.....get home and change clothes what's the big deal...now in Bogotá I can see a problem with cold rain

I'm glad to cede to you, Vic, the smoke-filled, 20 centimeter gap between roaring buses that would be rightfully mine for motorbiking in Bogota if I wished. Enjoy!

Mr. Hollywood says on Nov 6, 2007, 08:08:

But, also, if I had tits like yours to protect me in a crash I might feel differently.
