My parents got few animal there now, specially chickens and they bring a lot of the stuff that the finca produce like yuca, naranja, eggs, coconuts etc and sell them in Villavicencio. people like the products.

utopiacowboy says on Sep 21, 2005, 08:25: My mother-in-law has a finca about 20 miles outside of Monteria. It's really like a small farm where she has pigs, chickens, ducks, cattle, etc. She has had several people living there in the past caring for the place and they have not been reliable or trustworthy at all. Some of them would steal or allow other people to steal animals. If there was some money in it and they had a gringo to sell, I am sure they would have sold him or her as well. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Rubiazo says on Sep 21, 2005, 12:40: I'm actuallyu with GIB on this one Much as i think security concerns are overrated here, I agree with him on this one. The common misconception is that cities are the dangerous places and rural areas are more tranquil. I have found the reverse to be true in many cases, and not just in Colombia. People tend to think that because there are no police sirens there is no danger! In the cities often you are surrounded by lots of people and that in itself makes the situation more secure in many ways.

juanalejo says on Sep 21, 2005, 15:02: Fincas and GIB GIB, I still do not get it, you are here asking about how much your life is worth, you have the most horrific stories to tell about every day of your life and you are still around? I do not think people are here to prove anything, you are the only one on a constant basis trying to prove what a brave man you are by being still here. For the rest of us, it is just normal life in Colombia, where there are dangers in some areas, less dangers in others and no dangers in others. And by the way nice story about Cali, that is a new one for me although now that I think about it, with you, stories are always new.

juanalejo says on Sep 21, 2005, 15:43: GIB You are such a sad case gringo, and yes I have no idea why you are here, but then again I do not really care, on the contrary I wish you did not live here. And opposite to what you think I know what it is for gringos to live here, specially wealthy expat guys and their families as I deal with them every day, hear there stories and see how happy they are. And sorry for you if you think I do not live here as I do, and I also lived in your country and no I did not like it much anyhow, but was never as rude and uncultured as you are to live there, and constantly bash and insult my host country, specially from my small and ignorant perspective after only 5 years of living there.

juanalejo says on Sep 21, 2005, 16:46: Say what you want, people are not stupid. Just a small brush at your posts and anybody can see what I mean. No need to answer to pile of crap anymore. And no Colombia is not rose color, like no country in the world is either, we are all full of good, not so good, bad and very bad, but a finca in Pereira is much more on the good side than what you would like it to be. Sad for you, you miss it, not the rest of us.

Caballista says on Sep 21, 2005, 21:38: En que parte?
