Renewing a Tourist Visa

I lived in Colombia for about 4 years but always with a work visa. I recently returned on vacation and got a 60 day stamp on my passport. I've been in the country for about 45 days (since April 26) and would like to stay one more month (Flying to the US on July 16th). How do I get the 30 day extension as a tourist? Does it cost anything? What papers, etc should I present at DAS. DAS is really a pain because every time I go there I get a different response, so I would appreciate as much detail as possible with you answers.

Thanks!

You have to go to the DAS, bring $62.000 pesos, 2 photos and fill up an extention form, plus you have to bring your passport...

MY NAME IS ANGEL. I AM COLOMBIAN AND LIVED IN CANADA AND THE USA FOR 18 YEARS. I RETURNED TO MEDELLIN AND WOULD LIKE TO OFFER SERVICES AS INTERPRETER/ ESCORT AND DRIVER. I CAN ALSO HELP IN FINDING SHORT TERM APT. RENTALS.

For DAS Belen in Medellin, you need:

pay 63,800 pesos at GNB Sudameris bank (No. 63017784, Codigo 103)
orignal bank receipt and 2 photocopies
4 (3x4 photos) any background color
2 photocopies of passport info page
2 photocopies of page with entrance stamp on it
sometimes they ask for your onward ticket so beware

At this particular DAS, they'll tell you to come back at 2 PM if you come in the morning. But I think it's just how they feel that day.

You fill out a form and get fingerprinted.

Then they'll tell you to come back in a week for the stamp.

Follow Sr. Zack's directions.

Keep in mind, DAS may have different requirements in different cities. It should be similar, but the bank may be different. Check with them first. (this procedure is easiest in Bogota)

Really?

I've never heard of them doing this -- though given what I know about that office, it doesn't surprise me at all. For the record I extended there once every 30 days for basically the past year without ever having an issue -- though they seem to be getting more inefficiently recently.

Only for the first 30 day extension do you have to come back (though I wouldn't be surprised if this rule changes daily). After that, you just take the bank receipt to DAS and you'll get the stamp the same day.

I thought you could only extend for up to 6 months in any 1 year period?

The rule is 180 days per calender year. So, if it's the last 6 months of one year and the first 6 of the next, you can basically stay for a whole year.

I got my initial stamp during the first visit after the fingerprinting and i had overstayed a few days. Fany was however, not there imposing her rein of terror as she seems to be right now.
