Renew Cedula Extrajaneria de Conjuye

I just went to DAS in Cali today and they tell me that I must go to Bogota to renew my cedula and in Bogota they will provide the information necessary to do so.

Has anyone of this forum renewed their cedula de extrajaneria de conjuye and can tell me exactly what documents are required to do so?

Thanks for any responses.

In 2005 I came to Colombia with a spousal visa. I got my cedula at DAS here in Pereira. It is now time to renew my visa, so I stopped by DAS to verify that I had to do that in Bogota (yes I do). But they only said to be sure to return to DAS here in Pereira within 15 days of getting the new visa to renew the cedula. They said nothing about needing to renew the cedula in Bogota, so I am assuming I will be able to do it here. Hope this helps.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

you got it wrong you have to go to Bogotá to renew your visa not your cedual...your cedual is only an identification card given by the DAS ....once you get your new visa (in Bogotá)you need to return to the DAS to register your new visa...they should also stamp your passport to prove you have been registered

If your spouse visa is ready to renew you may do so at MRE, visa department, Carrera 13 No. 93 - 68, Office #203, North end of Bogotá around the corner from the Parque 93.Phone: 640.0974 - 640.8576

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU CALL MRE BEFORE YOU GO TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL REQUIRED PAPERWORK.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. Get there before 7:30 in the morning for the shortest wait.

Bring your passport, letter from your wife requesting your visa be renewed (she is your sponsor) and a copy of her Cedúla-all notarized, of course. Paper work is straight forward so you should be able to handle without outside help. Will be finished that day.

Gator can I renew my spousal visa from a Consulate in the USA? Mine expires soon and because of wifey being preganat in USA with me now getting to Colombia is a pain. If I don't renew and Visa I assume my Cedula voids as well. I guess I am looking for a way to avoid having to fly to Bogota from USA to renew all this.

On this I am NOT absolutely sure but I believe the visa can be renewed at the Colombian Consulate having jurisdiction over the state where you live. If you have not had the proper notarization done in Colombia concerning the required paperwork it might be best to have the wife with you to avoid the expense and time involved in Apostilles.

I would call a consulate first to make sure it can be renewed. Do NOT wait till the visa expires. If you do it will void the current spouse visa and you will have to start the process over again.

I would emphasize contacting the consulate to request information - maybe even talk to different people there - on what the requirements are. When I got my my original spousal visa in Miami I was told that I HAD TO renew it in Miami (not true, of course).

When I called Bogota this week about renewal, I was told that I must first go to Notaria Primero in Bogota and get another copy of the Colombian 'Registro Civil de Matrimonio', and the only thing to be notarized is the letter from the spouse, but only if the spouse does not accompany you.

gator I know you can renew your visa at the consulate where you live or any consulate....2 years ago I went to San Antonio in Venezuela to renew my spousal visa all the same document apply of course....as the MRE is an extension of the consulate or visa versa....the only thing he needs is to have the letter from the wife authenticated or the letter and the wife present

Thanks Gator and Vicshere that will save me a plane ticket. I am going to call to confirm with Consulate but from what Vic says it should not be a problem.
