Reinventing Yourself in Colombia

I like the idea of moving to Colombia and doing what Modefoque plans: to enjoy the chicas, booze and chicharrons until I croak. I can stay in the U.S. Maybe get married and become a fat middle age dad. The idea of having a barbecue and mowing the lawn with other fat middle aged Dads terrifies me. I would rather move to Colombia and get drunk in the street with some viejos all day. There must be something wrong with me :)

I'm doing this in Bogota, without the heavy drinking part, and the only thing I regret is that I didn't start sooner!

I gave up booze years ago. My diet can't handle chicharron. I'm already fat and north of middle-aged.

But I'm down for the rest.

I've been a grown-up long enough. Time to regress, further.

Tomtom33, you're inspiration too. Maybe its better to cut out the booze and focus on the chicas like you do. How many do you hit a day, like 2 or 3? If I don't drink, I can hit around 5.

If they catch you with another girl, its over. It might be better to get some prepagos. In Colombia they call police handcuffs "esposos" just to give you an idea.

lochdhu ... Argenting v. Colombia I lived in Buenos Aires for three months. It was actually a little cheaper to live rich in Argentina. Girls are so beautiful, life is good food is good etc.

But Colombia - women are hotter, and the people are so much easier to talk to. So when you go out it is just easier to get in the mix in Colombia, make friends in Colombia and have a life in Colombia. Buenos is probably the coldest place as far as people are concerned in South America. I would hit ... Medellin or Cali - beautiful women warm people easy to get in the mix.

If you have any questions hit me up (I have spent about a month in Medellin & a month in Cali and a week in bogota 10 days cartagena - and several months throughout argentina). But Colombia will be a way doper experience trust me.

I do a lot of searches and Some sites have "GIF" files used in posts or as part of the site. I download and save to a specific file with a hopefully memorable name. This is 6 plus years of accumulation.

I'm one of those who couldn't get what I wanted in the U.S. Suppose I could but it would have been VERY expensive and required working full time.

As far as I'm concerned spending 6 months in Colombia and 6 months in the U.S. is almost perfect.

If I were Hugh Heffner I'd stay in the U.S. FULL TIME but I lack his resources and connections.

Those are some interesting points Miguel, i know all about the gold diggers in the US. True there are there in Colombia also. It's just the training the gold diggers have in the US is to get into your life (not just your pocket book) and they have this amazing sense of self-entitlement. ME ME ME ME ME ME.

In any culture, that drives me crazy. As soon as i see the signs of a self-entitled girl she gets the boot.

Well Poco, good point about The Hef, he's got all the resources and that would be the life for most men (me included). You can have a similar experience in South America with not near the funds.

I agree chicas may play a part for some in moving to SA, it's not always the case or deciding factor, for some people maybe its a cheaper way of living or enjoying the simpler life, or to get out of the watchful eye of big brother, or for me the abudance of year round vine ripened fresh fruit. which you really can't get in the states here.

Have you seen the piss poor quality and high prices of fresh fruit picked weeks before its half-ass ripe? during my last 3 week trip I lost 13lbs, sure you can get some fresh fruit, but it's only seasonal.

and then you have the friendly character of people in SA, compared to the USA. except where I live, we have great people.

In Addition to the cost savings of possibly living in SA, there is a lot of people and kids in need, as I contribute to many non-profit private ex-pat's organazations in SA, and its a great feeling knowing you are helping starving or abandoned kids, and seeing the smiles on these kids faces.

and don't get me started on health care, anytime I need a perscription filled, I have to make an appt with my doctor 7-14 days in adavance, which costs me 80$ and then have to wait another 30-45 mins to see the doctor, tell him whats wrong, get perscription, go to pharmacy, wait another 20-30mins, and then pay 120-200$ for meds, when I can just walk down the local phamacy in SA, and get what I need for 1/3 of the cost, and no waiting to see a freaking doctor!

there are many reasons that make SA attractive to me. I could go on, but I'll refrain from doing so.

I've been to Colombia 3 times, Bogota, Cali, and most recently Santa Marta, I prefer the cooler climates of Bogota, but I hear Medellin and its year round spring time weather is great, and I might need to take a trip to Manizales and Medellin and then decide which suits me the best in terms of climate, food, activities, cost of living, home prices, etc etc.

Argentina vs Colombia I pretty much agree with the comments above. Buenos Aires is a better city than Bogotá, climate is FAR better, but Colombians are hard to beat, a lot friendlier and more interesting, and I'd even say classier, at least in my experience, although I'll probably take some heat for that.

We're talking generalizations here, of course.

One night I stopped in a bar in Centro for a drink. One sat on my lap. She had no panties on under her short skirt. We chatted and then she gave me her phone number. She even gave me her grandparents number in Estadio because I was staying in that area. She had a scumbucket quality about her that kind of turned me on. But I think it would be very low if I cheat on my girl with one of those ho's. I'll only cheat if the girl is a virgin or looks like a model and does'nt do hooker work.

One girl has a boyfriend who lives in the States. She comes over once every week or two to earn a little extra. We were introduced by a mutual friend and have been seeing each other for over a year.

Another calls about once a month usually near the end of the month. She is a college student. We met over a year ago at a restaurant. The first night we met, she came over to my apartment with some friends of hers. I offered to pay her for sex. She said no.

I have several more regulars. Some I may not see for months. And, of course, I'm always looking to add to my collection. I just love chicas clientes.

Gringo in bogota: ¨I don't mind the cloudy weather here, in fact I like it.¨

GIB: ¨but I like it here, I love the people, have a colombian girlfriend, have learned the language and to appreciate the culture, especially the music. I like it so much I want to live here as soon as I can make it work.¨

DonCulo[DELETED]: ¨you have no right to such opinions, you were not born and raised here. Take your stupid ideas and shove them up a culoblanco¨

GIB: ¨Well, once in a while I bitch about things that annoy me, or I express opinions about politics or religion, but that's pretty normal I thought?¨

Donculokitty in unison: ¨NO OPINIONS ALLOWED THAT WE DON'T AGREE WITH AND APPROVE BEFORE YOU UTTER THEM!!¨

gib: ¨Siegheil!¨ (gives proper nazi salute and clicks heels) ¨Boy, these colombians really are nice people.¨

YOU are the one that does not allow a different opinion and you are the one that attacks people with personal insults when you don't like the opinion they have.

Let me tell ya I have experienced enough of that in my life to know a wannabe nazi when I see one. You are not a Nazi you are just an asshole. If you were to be given a lot of power and the ability to trade in that personal attack for a gun and the power to shoot someone down in the street then you could be a nazi.

But you throwing that nazi word around tells me you have NO respect for what they did to my people. It is not to be belittled into a internet cat fight. But then you have no respect for anything do you.

I tell ya it would be nice to meet someone like you here in Colombia. I really really mean that with all my heart.

take a pill DCB You really must be a troll, no normal person would blow a gasket like that over anything I said.

You seem to understand english pretty well, so I'm wondering where the misunderstanding comes from?

I have spoken out against intolerance my entire adult life, especially religious intolerance. Being an atheist I am quite the minority myself. I often even waste time the net debating free speech and individual rights with anonymous lefties.

As a university student at a mainly jewish school I participated in several pro-Israel public demonstrations.

If you knew ANYTHING about my political philosophy (you don't, clearly) you'd know that I believe that governments should have the least amount of power possible, but well short of anarchy.

One of the reasons I so strongly believe in limited government is that history has shown the horrors (like the holocaust) that totalitarian governments resort to, to consolidate their power or to get rid of dissidents.

So I really don't want any power myself, and I sure don't want to shoot anyone, but I have to say, if I was dictator the world would be wonderful, all peace and love and arequipe for everyone.
