registro civil

As we all know Colombia is inundated with archaic laws and processes that are paper based... here's another story -

mi suegra has 'adopted' a young girl of 12 years old in that she stays at my mom's place, helps a bit around the house in return for lodging, food etc... the young lady has one of those lives we all hear about - mom passed away last year, dad's new woman says to the girl get outta my house, grandmother has her papers but conveniently lost them when she told her mi suegra was going to send her to school... what papers are necessary for public schools in Colombia and how does one go about getting them?

Why not call of of the schools in Valledupar for the answer?

If they know the notaría her registro civil de nacimiento is located at, anyone can go there and get a copy.

I'll double-check with the schools... just to throw some more complications into the mix - she was born in Venezuela but she has a 'registraduria nacional del estado civil' for Colombia - don't know if that helps or worsens things...

Then, yeah check with the schools and see what paperwork they'll request.

A Copia del registro civil de nacimiento might be sufficient but usually that is supplied by the notary.
