Registration at Chamber of Commerce

For my visa, I have to register my activity at the Chamber of Commerce, and get some document from them saying that I have registered. Does anyone know how long this takes, and how difficult it is to do? I know a few people that have had to do it but I do not know of their results/success/failure.

D'not know about other Chambers ,but here in Cali you can register the same day and leave with papers in hand.If its for a visa the registration must be for more than 45,000,000 cop.Costs depend on the value you register.Min 45,000,000 cost about 300,000.
Very straightforward to do.

It takes no more than 30 min at the Chamber... is very easy to do it

The process itself is simple.............but if you don't submit the correct information, you will have problems later, both tax and with your visa.

Get an accountant and an attorney to advise you on what is best to put on the forms. If you are using it for a business visa, which it would seem, you will need an accountant anyway for some of those forms.

Yes well said, much better if you find a lawyer to help you...

Don't know about a lawyer for the registration, but you must already have an accountant to show proof of income for your visa.Like RAAY says the registration must be more or less correct to avoid later problems with Dian. You can tinker around with the next registration when the business is up and running. An accountant is a must before the financial year ends,as the registration with the Chamber is easy, the paperwork with Dian is not.

RAAY is absolutely correct. Its better with a lawyer, or even an accountant to help you. Had my lawyer handle the first one and the accountant handle the renewal with no problems.

Getting your business visa and registration with the Chamber are the easiest part of running a business here. Depending on the type of business you're planning and the number and types of employees, facilities, contracts, leases etc.. is where the redtape and illogical hassles start. That's when you cross into The Twilight Zone.

It's not for a business visa. I should have specified. It's for a special temporary visa; I have to apply for the visa that covers "activities not listed here." (Number 41.9 in the list here: http://consuladocolombiala.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&...). I have all of the requisites ready for the visa except this form, including proof of financial capacity.
