Refajo Recipes

Theres the basic refajo of a beer & colombiana sode pop. Next rung up is some do a beer, half colombiana, half naranjada & some zumo de limon. I just found another one: Take a 72 oz pitcher, alternate while filling it up with 3 beers, two 12oz colombianas, two 12oz servings of Malta and two dobles of Guaro and you get a nice dark annissette tasting refajo that can sneak up on you even though you taste no alcohol. Anyone got any others?

I made refajo in the states with Big Red K and Budweiser. Simple, effective, and good taste

Back in the day when you couldn't get Colombiana in the US, my parents would make refajo using cream soda and beer. My dad would never shut up about how it was the most refreshing drink ever. The funny thing is that otherwise, neither of them ever drank alcohol much.

That shit tastes nasty to me, but I've never really liked beer and I don't much like Colombiana. I'm a Postobon fan.

A mi me gusta mucho la Colombiana, especialmente la light, aunque mi padre dice que esa bebida es para matar cucarachas huh!

There is nothing like a good carne asada, papa salada and a Colombiana

True. I would just replace the Colombiana with Naranja Postobon. Actually, I'd rather have a good juice, maybe mora, chulupa, lulo, etc.

Hey CG: My friends argued with me in Bogota that there was no fruit called chulupa, yet their family members prepared a juice from it for me down in Neiva. Does it have a different common name in Bogotá? I cannot imagine them not knowing of the fruit...Anyway, the juice was delicious. With so many EXCELLENT juices why drink pop? Having said that, I do not mind Postobon and Colombiana...and refajos are alright, but beer already is weak on alcohol so why water it down with pop?

Ha Ha. Those Rolos don't know what they're talking about.

Chulupa (Passiflora vitifolia)

I think it is related to the passion fruit family and may be known by other names in different regions. However, I'm no botanist so maybe someone else can be more informative.

I've also always had that in Neiva. I am half Opita and my wife is 100%. I am usually in Neiva at least two or three times a year.

"I don't much like Colombiana. I'm a Postobon fan" I'm fairly certain Colombiana is made by Postobon... I do hate how they replaced 'Popular' with Colombiana, it's just not the same.
I love the juice too, but sometimes I need the gaseous drink.
See what you did you made me miss the freshly squeezed orange juice I have every morning in Colombia... I guess I'll have to settle with a glass of the pasteurized garbage you get around here.

I should have said Naranja Postobon. The funny thing is that it can be a pain to get naranja. They have Manzana Postobon everywhere, but I have been to countless restaurants that don't have Naranja.

Thanks CG...All of the cachacos looked at me like I was absolutely crazy when I mentioned that fruit. Granted, this doesn't prove that I am sane, but it is a relief to find out that I was right with regards to the chulupa.

A bunch of people warned me to stay away from Neiva, but I had a great time there. Thankfully, the days that I spent in Neiva were without the typical scorching heat that the city is famous for.

I love most Colombian drinks except that nasty Pony Malta. I remember I kinda/sorta liked it when I was a kid and once travelling from Buenaventura to Palmira my dad stopped along the way and bought me one, I drank it, then got car sick, rolled down the window and puked it all out. To this day the smell of Pony Malta makes me sick. =X

Ugh! Very true. While Colombiana isn't my favorite, it's not bad and I'll drink it if there's nothing else. However Pony Malta is just gross. To this day, I'm not even sure how to classify it.

How about Premio? Mmm... my FAVORITE! El Pollo Loco sells strawberry flavored Fanta that tastes similar to that, but Premio is Premio. =D

I don't recall if I've tried that. Of the fruit flavored sodas, I pretty much just like the Naranja Postobon. I'm pretty big on fruit juices, sorbetes(except guanabana. YUCK!) and Colombian style chocolate.

my family buys Coca cola too, and my son used to get very angry, he used to tell them with all those wonderful fruits why on earth they were drinking that venom and another thing he used tell them was why they didn't support the national drinks instead like Postobon.. oh well everything fell in deaf ears they kept buying coca cola. :)))

btw he hates Coca cola he rather drinks water.

I have a great relationship with the Coke truck drivers. I think I am one of their best customers in Somondoco. They always tell us about the promotions and premiums before they are public knowlege. I also love maracuya and mora but my wife will not fix them or clean up after me if I do.

I'm all for most sodas and I also love Coca Cola but when I'm in Colombia, its either Postobón and Premio all the way.
