Recent trip to Medellin, RioNegro, San Andres

Haven't posted for awhile, just planning my trip to Medellin to visit my son's father, friends, and family. Just returned last week and had a great time, what a different city than i remember in the 80's. Plan on going back in 6 months to visit Medellin and San Andres Island again, beautiful country. remember seeing poster downtown Medellin and along the road of photos of Ingrid Betancourt, finally they are home.

yes dear......where else could i be. just stuck to the screen, playin 'gadfly'.

e me and lets pick up where we left off.

you are right, it's changed ooooooooh so much since the 80's. and unlike the majority of posters here, i don't believe all of it's for the better. poblado is like miami, now. what happened to the dirt streets and quaint atmosphere---albiet oh so violent--that pervaded the whole area...poblado, las palmas, etc.

now, oviedo is like another country. remember hos tiny it was. just a drive in and turn around at BIC. now BIC is bancolombia, branches everywhere and oviedo is a monster.

same applies to sandiego. coltejer is bankrupt and centro comercio villanueva, the couria, has changed beyond recognition...that is with exception of the offices of el obispo.

centro, is pretty much unchanged as are junin, la playa and oriental. just a bit cleaner and a whole lot more congested. too, there's a giant exito downtown and a new one in rionegro, with plans for a walmart somewhere.

llano grande has comeup comercially in the world...definitely not for the better, fincas and cows are infinitely better than gas stations and strip malls. even gualanday has doubled in size. tutucan is the same, still fun for kids of all ages. and san antonio, maranilla, carmen and tablaso are prettymuch unchanged.

it'll be another year or so before we can return to our home in envigado full time...that is when laurita is finally deposited in university. right now, we have her in a private catholic school where she's queen of the campus. GOD bless this child.
well dear, if you want, e me dwmte7 at yahoo.com and bring me up to speed on your life.

lots of love, douglas
