Recent "live market rates" for some Medical proceedures

I see them discussed here often.

These were some prices that I gathered recently in Medellin.

Lasik both eyes 800,000 pesos.

Tooth bleaching/whitening 400,000 pesos.

Boob job 3,250,000 pesos

Eye exam and progressive lenses and frames 100,000

Wife had lazer treatment for bumps under and around eyes 80,000

Doctor visit for sick two year old. 25,000 pesos.

For those interested.

Did you get any of these services done? We should be hitting Medellin soon and I need some dental done, considering eyes. How do you find doctors here? It's so-so for me. I had old metal filings that I had changed because they look better, but have to have them changed almost every year! At first I thought the doctors here were better, but am starting to question that.... (due to other experiences as well)

Bufalo-I had my Fillings changed also from Silver to the white natural type by my Bogota Dentist and its been over 5 years and they are holding up great.

I also priced some Surgery recently at the Clinica de Las Americas(well known and reputable) in Medellin and myself and a Colombian Resident received TWO different prices in the same week and my price(as an american) was approx 30% higher. After I called about a price, I asked a Colombiana to request a price for the same exact operation a week later. Still a good price but I don't like the idea of such a large price differential based soley on the fact I am an American. . If a Colombian comes to the USA to purchase something, its the same price for everyone. I would advise anyone contemplating Medical Procedures to check this double pricing standard to insure you are getting the correct going price and not the "American Tourist" price,,,If in doubt, ask a Colombian friend to call or go to the clinic/dentist office and ask what the price is for the same procedure you are interested in,,,If you are OK with the double price standard, go for it! If not, look for other clinics where this double standard doesn't exist...

you guys think the prices are cheap because you are paying in gringo dollars which you make in the US.... trying being an average Colombian.....those prices are not cheap for the average Colombian who's is make 30,000 a day......27 days pay for laser eye???? would you pay nearly 2,500 dollars in the US for the same eye surgery (where average wage is $80-100 per day) i dont think so

Vicshere's right!

Gringo pricing, true. In Argentina they outright asked if you were a tourist or not and openly showed the different prices.

Can Miamimike and IPdiver post where they had said work done???

WD-I am aware of the double pricing standard for most things but was somewhat disappointed to see they applied the Tourist price in this well known clinic.I was hoping they wouldn't attempt this in the Medical Area ,,,

Nat, that's got to be an old picture if you need lipo now, unless there's something we don't see in the picture.

I met this one paisa in NYC, hot as anything and things were going great everytime I went to her work to make phonecalls. She was one of the gals that sold phone time. Then one day she stood up, holy mackrel! Her hips were HUGE! I mean barndoor-thunderthighs. I can imagine what my face must've looked like...

Hey, I can hold your other hand if need be... Seriously though, I don't see any work needed.

Maradona was in Bogota last week getting some, ummm, work done. Does he have financial problems and was trying to save a buck or is it that Colombian MDs are awesome?

fist through a painting? What a moron. I went to MoMa in NYC a few years back with a Paisa, real cute, but not much upstairs. While walking around she asked how long it took to copy each painting for display! I quietly told her they were all originals and she blurts out "They're all real!" in front of everyone, I was so ebarassed. I actually don't have any pics from the museum, I only went in once quick. Most of my Barcelona experience was having a great time with my daughter, who was 2. The really great thing about it there is that the whole city is a museum. Out in the streets there's tons of things by Gaudi, Miró and Picasso. Well maybe not the last two so much, but there is art everywhere. Singing around one corner, musicians on another, festivals, parades, capoeira, films, street theater, etc. We'd spend all day outside and not get bored at all, and almost everything is free. Even the Barrio Gótico is huge, right where we lived, easily beats Cartagena's Ciudad Amurallada. I really love Colombia, but here in Armenia I'm bored out of my mind!

Casino owner.... Ever see most of the clients there? He's onlyone up on them.
