Realtor, Lawyer and advice in Santa Marta

We are searching the Santa Marta area real estate market. Perhaps someone has a reliable Realtor and or lawyer in the area they could recommend. Also if anyone has incite into the market around this area, (trends, price range, security) it would be greatly appreciated.

Question, Are you speaking of Santa Marta proper or the El Rodadero area? A LOT les expensive than say Cartagena.

The wife and I did a long hard look at the Rodadero area about two years ago. The agents we used are, I think, still active.

There names would be helpful if they were of good help. We are actually looking up the coast, more so for land. Most Realtors seem to be in the dark about this area.

Where exactly do you want to buy land?

Ok, from Tayrona to Palomino. Beautiful.

To buy there is... a pain in the ass.
Be ready to make a lot of work researching. Be ready to people changing prices ten times. Be ready to people saying that they own something and they own nothing.
Plus, no realtors, no database of values, nothing...

Some advices:
The best area is the strip from Los Naranjos to Mendihuaca. Expensive.
Getting to Guachaca and Buritaca, expect to have safety concerns, and probably pay vacuna.
Do not buy far from Troncal del Caribe.
Once you see something you like and get a price, seek the service of a real estate evaluator to check the papers, measure the land and give an evaluation.

Where are you now?

robi666 says on May 22, 2008, 17:08:

Risky? Not that much if you don't make a stupid move.
But lot, lot of work.

By the way, my finca is just there.
The place is just the best spot of the Caribbean coast. I don't know of any other gringo owning there, but lot of rich Colombian families have their fincas in that area.
Everything is to do. But lot of potential.

We are in Santa Marta now, Been out there looking at properties for the last week. Moving into an appartment tomorrow in the city center, 11th and quinta. And yes it has been a pain in the ass, I have gotten more reliable info on my own than from realtors. The strip you said is the best looks like it is mostly held by people not looking to sell, but I do agree it is a prefered location. Where are you living? If we could chat it would be a great help. We have a car too to search on our own. Thanks for the help.

And thanks for the listing NY bombero

NY, the place is just the most beautiful piece of land on the Caribbean.
