Saw an ad in Semana today for a 2008 BMW 320i available for immediate delivery. It comes with a 1.995cc motor that packs 150 HP and gets to 62 mph in a blazing 9 seconds. All this for only $101.920.000. Final ad blurb: Suspensíon para topagrafía colombiana.

miamimike says on Nov 14, 2007, 22:18: Doesn't mention how many Foot Pounds of Torque its putting out, my little VW Turbo Diesel puts out 236 ft pounds of Torque, a considerable amount in a small 1.9 Liter Diesel Motor. All for $6K USD,,,eBay Special "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? ... That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Tinto (Moderator) says on Nov 15, 2007, 05:40: Agreed, that little 150 hp car would blow away most of the cars in Colombia, but from my perspective it's an outrageous price to pay for the BMW badge when you're not even getting the world famous buttery smooth inline six.

miamimike says on Nov 15, 2007, 20:35: Being the Consumate Cheapskate I am, I would never buy a New Beemer even here in the US and then have it depreciate $3K-$5K in the first year. Many Miamians are sucked into the New Car Buying syndrome and after 3 years, are "Upside Down" already on their Car Loans and owe more then the Car is worth on the Market. New Car Purchases are the worst investment a person can make unless its a Classic type but these are not the "daily Driver variety" so that is out. IWhen I bought my VW Diesel on eBay after it was only 4 years old, it had already lost over 65% of its value,,,Better to buy when they have bottomed out depreciation wise,,, "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? ... That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., |

mranderson says on Nov 16, 2007, 06:37: Problem with buying a car when the depreciation bottoms out is usaully that's when the car will start having problems. The car may be cheap but the maintanance might not be depending on the car. Anyway, I think it totally depends on the kind of car and whether it will be popular in 4 or 5 years.

Tinto (Moderator) says on Nov 16, 2007, 08:40: With all those four cylinder cars in Colombia and people paying others to trim their trees, cut their lawns, etc...I doubt the average Colombian has a very high CI (Cylinder Index)

Tinto (Moderator) says on Nov 16, 2007, 09:14: My CI of 10 is pretty lame, too. I think I should talk my parents into selling me their farm. That would put me in the 50 plus category immediately.
