Quick Visa extension question

Hey all!

Quick question-- I am US citizen and have been floating in and out of Colombia for a while now, but always do two months at a time and have never had to renew anything. I am thinking of staying three months this time and my two months goes on March10. If I get another two month renewal through DAS, and only stay 20 or so days, will they take the whole two months and count it towards my six month total??...or can you ask a set number of days with them?? i doubt it. Id go down and ask but have been sick as a dog. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thnx!

The number of days in the country is what counts to the six months.

Also they will only extend by 30 days at a time.....you won't get a 60 day ext.

Also, you say the 60 days expires on March 10. You really need to get to them at least one week before the expiry date or they can be a pain in the ass.

If you are in Medellin and go looking for an extension close to the expiry date................they will tell you to piss off and make you travel to Bogota.

I personally know two seperate people that this happened to last month.

Last time I was at DAS they would only extend 1 month a a time. Your time in colombia is determined by your actual days in country regardless of what your entry visa stamp (or ext) allows - they had a print out on DAS on my arrival and exit days that they showed me.

I extended this morning in Medellin, my expiration date is tomorrow. This is the 4th time I've done so the past 8 months.

Like everything here I guess, it all just depends.

Before I got my visa I went to DAS several times to extend another 30 days. I went down there a day or two before my expiry date with no problems

Yeah....is'nt it so..............

I found it hard to believe that they would'nt extend for the first guy that told me his story. I felt sure there must be more to it...................I asked him the same question several different ways...........and a real nice fella......polite....mannerly...........I found it hard to believe that they would make him take a friggin bus to Bogota..................but yeah......sure enough.

People have posted on there that they've gotten 60 days in Bogota recently.

I've never heard of this before and certainly never experienced it. Your best bet is to go to DAS and ask.

I never heard of 60 days before either - but it is Colombia.
