Quick two questions about MRE in Bogota - adding trabajo to my Temporal Spouse Visa.

Will be going there next week...have done the research, and friends have made phone calls for me, but I'm looking to get all the input I can for the sake of preparation:

1. Anyone know if they are closed for any reason next week?

2. Is it still 7:30am that the doors open, with a recommendation to arrive early and fight the long lines?

3. Has anyone had PERSONAL experience or have FACTUAL knowledge on changing the "Ocupacion" from Hogar to Trabajo? I am under a solid understanding that it simply requires your passport, cedula, a few new pics and a copy of your work contract with a qualified employer.

Thanks in advance for any assistance...

If that's what you have found out I strongly suggest you telephone before you go. Your solid understanding is about to cost you time and trouble.

Good luck-

Your number 3 is way off. You need more than that. Contact them again. I am going through it all right now so I can start working next year.

The MRE website seems to be down at this moment to send you the exact link but here is the list more or less of what you need.
1. Contrato de trabajo o documento pertinente.
O, Acreditar
experiencia según el caso.

You should check with the MRE about #4, i think it depends on the profession you are going for as far as exactly what they require.

Thanks Gator - responses like that one are why so many people find this forum to be less than hit-and-miss every day to the point of exhaustion from sifting through all the BS. Try putting your effort into posts where you want to make positive input and feedback, rather than wasting your energy on mine. Now, go ahead and reply, jack the thread, and do all that stupid sh*t that comes out of a post like yours - I wont respond to give you the dignity...

Adrienne79...thanks a lot! We have been looking this evening and it looks as though we have everything from the list:

1. Check
2. Check
3. Not too sure about that one...will need to look into it.
4. Have looked into this and many of the Colombian Embassy websites show only three or four professions which need this evidence, such as a Scientist, Doctor or Geologist.

Anything else from anyone? Thanks for the (educated) responses so quickly!

The "lovemedellin website" is a piece of crap made by some moron who has only been to Medellin once...you'd be better off reading the Lonely Planet advice from a guy who never even came here!

check into number 4. You will need something. even if it is just a letter from the place of employement saying you are qualified for the job. We specifically checked on that one last week with the MRE. For me, I am trying to teach and that is what they told us we need. Just hate to see you waste time and money.

Congrats getting number 2. That one is the one that is taking a few tries for us to get. It is unbelivable what the school must provide to get that thing!

Yes 7.30am is the opening time, or it was a few weeks ago.

Awesome adrienne79 and Ctg Bound! Thanks for your continued input....

As for #4, yes I am also a teacher. As for #2, I work for a very established Colegio and they have that information/documentation readily available!

Then why did you respond?

Thank you for you thoughtful and gracious answer from someone trying to help. Let's play horse. I'll be the front end and you be yourself.

Aztez and Vic,

Quién sabe? My answer to the original post was "If that's what you have found out I strongly suggest you telephone before you go. Your solid understanding is about to cost you time and trouble."

To sum up: I'd rather pass the world's largest kidney stone than read another post from him. That post was written by something so confused, he doesn't know whether to scratch his watch or wind his ass.

Gator made a sarcastic, yet friendly comment. In my opinion, it looked like a friendly way to lighten things up while including one solid piece of advice. I don't get the hypersensitive reaction either. What did you do to him Gator that upset him so much? And your last comment was pretty damn funny. scratch, watch, wind, ass .... I gotta remember that one.

BEWARE of gold diggers.
