Oops...one more thing...approximate prices? I don't do the bus thing very often.

I thought mde-bog was more like 9 or 10 hours. At least that´s how long it took me. I think it was about 40k pesos or something like that.

i did the medellin - cartagena bus one way. awful experience. very little highway, just "state roads" and constant curves, stop and go. bus was freezing, a/c on full blast and couldn't close certain vents. took about 14 hours. arrived exhausted and lost a day of vacation catching up on sleep.

do what you like, take risks, build something

The thing with bus trips is that they are by far the cheapest way of travelling. I always just pop a sleeping pill and take the night buses (unless you're in the south of Colombia... Huila/Cauca/Narino territory, then travel by day) and you sleep the whole journey. You can always get discounts if you ask.

But sleeping pills are the key. Sometimes they're fun too, I would halucinate off them occasionally as I drifted off to sleep, lol!

hahaha yeah... I get really motion-sick, so the key for me is to sit in the front. I thought about getting some pills to help them, then maybe combine that with sleeping pills. Great idea!

I would add some ear plugs to mute those God-awful movies.

Bogotá/Cali roughly 12 hours.

If you get motion sickness then don´t take a long bus trip in colombia. Sometimes sitting up front doesn´t make a difference because they have a door up there and you can´t see out the front of the bus. Maybe you´d be better off in the back next to the bathroom.

Uhhhh back next to the bathroom is the worst, can't see anything and just sitting in a moving tube! Makes me sick just THINKING about it! I have had luck when sitting in the front row, but GETTING the seat is hard especially when its a company that doesn't issue seat numbers.

Looks like I need to travel Medellin-Bogota-Medellin the first week of November, and without any specials on flights my ass is gonna have to hack this bus thing again...que pereza!
