does anyone have any accurate, recent data--FROM DIAN--on the tax applied to used vehicle imports?

Douglas: I don't think you can import a used vehicle into Colombia unless the law has changed. It would make for a very profitable business ...if true.

New car is 35 % tariff-no used cars can be imported. The are exceptions for certain "classic"and "antique"cars.

Antiques. That's a good question? Drive a pimpmobile down as far as you can. Then ship it.

Generally speaking the age is like 25 to 30 years old, depending on the car, and you must offer some type of "proof" the car is an antique or a classic. Accepted proof is usually copies of collector/antique magazines that either feature the car in question or list sale prices. I understand Barrett/Jackson Auction Dealers has a web site that his prices and models. I am also sure you must completed the process and obtain the exception before the vehicle is allowed into the country.

A '75 Gremlin? Wasn't that the little guy with the long ears in "Star Wars?"

Give with a try with DIAN-strange things happen in Lo Colombia.

Gator, the Gremlin was a popular car in the early 70s, made by AMC. You can see a primo example of one in Wayne's World. Garth drives one in those movies.
