Quick I'm going to DAS to get forums for my new Job what do I need?

I'm going in about an hour (1:30) so answer soon.

Is there a fee? I've only got about 45000 on me.

I have the contract of employement, my cedula E and my passport with marriage visa or whatever it's called.

I was told I have a month to do this, then they send me forms to take the MRE. I'm on the last week of that window.

Thanks - I haven't been posting much because my whole day is working in front of a computer now.

Why don't you ask the guys that are paying you 600.000 per month to work 60 hours per week for some help? Seems kinda obvious to me.

I never went to DAS to get any papers. I think you are starting off wrong. You only go to DAS after you get your Visa to obtain your cedular.

Yep and you need more papers than it sounds like you have. You will need:

1) Certificado de Proporcionalidad
2) the contract
3) a letter from your employer explaining you are qualified for the position
4) a commercial certifcate

You won´t need number 1 if your place of employement is a public-gov´t institution.
You will also need more pictures, copies of your passport pages, another application, etc.
Take the following along with your current visa to the MRE in Bogota or a consulate and have the change made there. Then report to DAS within 15 days.

oh and also you mention it isn´t for teaching. In that case you might need diploma copies that have been apostilled and translated. Depends on the job

and there is no fee for the change, unless that rule has changed recently.

I do not understand your statement, "The pay isn't great but at least I'm not teaching" teachers make a hell of a lot more and work less hours. Maybe you should rethink your job situation.

Just my 2 cents

DAS is full of it if they told you the change is no big deal and you are legally allowed to work. It is a big deal and you do have to do it. I did the same change. It is a pain but once done then you can feel comfortable that you are then legally working.

The paper you are asking about is number one on the list I wrote for you. It is the most pain to get. And once you give them paperwork to get it, it still takes 10 days before it will be ready for pick up in Bogota. I was there just last week getting one. Thsi link will tell you what you need to get it.

Also DAS is dissolving at the end of the year so it won´t be up to them if you are legally working or not.
