Questions about Medellin.

1. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Conquistadores? If so, comments!
2. What is the best way to get from the International Airport to the South Bus Station?
3. If you had two days in Medellin what would you be sure to see?
4. Where do I look for a "nice affordable apartment" for an extended stay... NOT in Poblado!
I am looking forward to getting to know Medellin but can only work in two days for my first visit... will have more time next trip. Thanks for any info.

Re. #4... By "extended stay" I mean 2 to 3 months, or more. And, I only said "NOT in Poblado" because, so far, everything I have seen listed for there is way too expensive! If you know of "reasonable" apartments then please let me know. Thanks again!

#1. Nope, haven't stayed there.
#2. Cabs are insanely inexpensive compared to US standards and pretty quick as well. A real nice view on the way into town! Hope you have decent spanish though because most 'no habla ingles'!
#3. ???? Two days will not even begin to scratch the suface of the wonderful city! I was there for 8 days and still left feeling like I missed a million sites! Hopefully you have a good tourguide to show you around!
#4. Haven't been in a while but there was a number of options in some nice areas for around 500-800$US monthly when I was there.
Good Luck!

There are tour buses that take you around the whole city that will take up half the day. You will see most of the city.

I miss my novia!

1. no. but why dont you stay at the Black Sheep hostal in Patio Bonito. Great place, nice people and very inexpensive
2. Minubus from MDE to North Terminal (5000 pesos). Then Metro to Poblado and 10 minute walk (or taxi from North to South Terminal...approx 8000 pesos)
3. Visit the centro during the day, and take the metro cable to Santa Domingo in the late afternoon for great city views.

1. no
2. Minibus from MDE to El Terminal Norte, or to Hotel Nutibara then you can ask any local which bus to pick to get to the south terminal or better yet take a cheap cab and just ask for el Terminal de Bus Sur.
3. Hope no one takes offense to this because I love Medellin, but it's not a touristy town, it's not like a Rome or Paris where it's automatic like "ok, arc de triomphe then tour eiffel" kinda deal, its a city that I feel is best seen by walking around and just getting lost in the streets. Go to the centro on a weekday and cruise the shopping area just to see how crazy it can get, the one thing I'd definetly recommend though is taking the Metrocable. Either one is good, the one at San Javier is newer, but the neighborhoods have less to offer, at least right now. The one at Santa Domingo is cool because when you get off at the top its a little city with stuff to do and streets to cruise up there.
4. The reason you see mostly Poblado stuff is cuz of where you're looking right? You're on a website with lots of people who've got enough money to live in Poblado or who own property there etc (again don't take offence anyone, I enjoyed the stay i had in problado) while you're in Medellin pick up a newspaper, use your spanish (or learn it first) and read the classifieds, then the next time you're down there do it again give urself a couple days to find something suitable.
