You can get tax transcripts from the IRS quickly and easily for free. I'm pretty sure that they accept those.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Just make a copy on the Xerox machine or print a copy from the turbo tax cd or website etc. I sent in unsigned copies because all my returns were filed electronically (hence unsigned.) You do not need to send transcripts if you have the copies. Good Luck

The tax returns and the W-2s also. They accept copies - even unsigned copies of tax returns. Good Luck

Send copies but still get the transcripts form the IRS Send the copies of the W-2's and unsigned tax returns but definitely request the transcripts form the IRS, the worst that could happen is that it gets held up until you provide them with the actrual IRS transcripts. From what I understood from Visa Journey, they accpt only transcripts...... verify that with Visa Journey though but I believe that's the case.......

Transcripts are preferred 1) you can't get a transcript for a return you haven't filed

2) I submitted a the returns and the transcripts and they only looked at the transcripts.

The advantages of the transcript are:

a) it comes from the government so the embassy is less likely to suspect it's a fake or "imaginary" return

b) its' succinct and summarized making it easy to find the important numbers (e.g. Income)

So, if you can't wait the extra two weeks, then send what you can, but if you' can, get the transcripts.

I had the IRS Fax me the transcripts, so I guess I should be OK.

3 Years Tax Returns? Why do you need tax returns for 3 years? My instructions regarding supporting evidence says (If self-employed) Copy of last income tax return filed. Bob

rjstuff says on Apr 21, 2006, 07:21:

Its what the Bogota consulate requires. The I134 requirements are superceded by what the consulate requires! I had to send 3 years returns to my fiancee because that's what she had to submit to the embassy at the time of the interview. So, spend the $1.75 for the xerox cost. Good Luck

zingers I have just now started using this site again so am not familiar with all the threads. If there is anything different that what is stated in the I-134 (besides the 3 years of returns verses 1 year) or different that what is stated in the DS-156 it would save me a lot of time if someone would just tell me. I'm not trying to be a smartass but I'm not following your case so it's hard for me to know what you know or don't know. Hence, your best bet is to use google on this site, to help narrow down your search and see what VisaJourney.com has to say.

Specific questions are easier to answer (e.g. what do I put in block X?) But for one of us to list all the things you don't know, but should, on something is a bit of a challenge.

For my fiance, I used VisaJourney.com (and lots of manual labor researching things) to answer my questions and because every case is slightly different, the best way to find out what you need to know is to look it up or ask specifically.

Good luck with your application
