Question about the $100 Interview fee at the Consulate

My fiance has the consulate interview Nov.29th. The fee for the interview is $100. The Embassy web site says they do not take $100 bills. My question is....does anyone know for SURE if they take the equivilent to $100 in Colombian Pesos in cash? or do you absolutely need to pay with a credit card? Also can she pay for Domesa in cash also? or does she need a credit card for that?

You pay the $100 to the Banco Union Colombiano prior to the interview. As far as I know they are not doing Domesa anymore. All of this should be explained in the instructions with her packet.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

UC and C4C have posted exact answers. If you want more, search my post of my experience of last month - it would answer this exact question and maybe others you have.

PRIOR to the interview date, your fiancee will have to take a completed DS-156 w/ photo and her passport to the Banco Union Colombiano across the street from the embassy. She should get there early, there will be a line. 7:00 AM to 7:15 AM is ideal. She will pay 230,000 Colombian pesos (a/o this writing). I am 100% sure they accept cash (pesos, not USD). They will NOT take a check, I don't know if they accept credit card for this payment. Her receipt will be a label stuck on the front of her passport. This must be done before her interview.

Regarding DOMESA, it is better if she can stay in Bogota till the following day to pick up the visa. To be more accurate, if they are going to approve her visa, they will keep her passport after the interview. They will give her a little green appointment slip to come pick it up the next day at 4 PM. She shows up, presents the little green slip, and will pick up her passport; the visa will be affixed to one of the pages in the passport.

The embassy changed it's delivery process several months ago. Used to be they would have DOMESA deliver the passport w/ visa a few days after the interview. Now I have no idea what they would do in a case where the applicant couldn't personally pick up the visa the following day.
