Question about multinational companies and salaries

Hello all!
Suppose I work for a multinational company making $60,000 US dollars a year in NYC. Now, let's say they have a branch office in Medellin or Bogota and they have an available position for me to apply there. If I get transferred over there, would I get paid the same amount of money, $60,000, in Colombia?

Impossible to answer-in reality only the employer in the USA can advice you on its salary scale for individuals employed over seas. I find it hard to believed a multinational company would not advise you of the salary scale if they have, in effect, offered you the position.

probably not - most likely you'll get 60% of your salary but it all depends on your negotiation skills and their desire to have JUST YOU!

I work for a company that has plant managers all over the USA. They don’t even pay all of there managers the same here in the USA let alone in another country. We just opened a new plant in the Napa Valley and the person that takes that job will make more than one of our district managers just because of the cost of living in that area the plants located. We are just beginning to look into South America now and I have already volunteered to take the first plant if or when we open one in Colombia. LOL

Depends of your position: if is a CEO or any employee of management staff, you would have the same or more. Now, if your position is from any professional not involved directly on mangement/sales, your salary could be less than that: replaceable for a Colombian.

It is somehat doubtful. I retired from a fortune 50 company (one of the very first multinational U.S. companies [1888]), and they had four catagories of cities in the U.S depending on COL, and the pay scales corresponded. The people in Kansas City might have made 20% less than those in Manhatten.

I trained with many of my foreign peers and I know they made a lot less money working abroad (and were mostly better educated), doing the same work, and had a lower standard of living. .

Seems that some people think "everybody's outa step but me".
