question about 'disposable' cell phones.

how much does a cheap cell phone which uses pre paid cards cost?

i can't use my present phone there and i don't want to spend a bunch of money setting up accounts and paying bills.

any info appreciated,

douglas

Cell phone Douglas:

I paid $13.00 dollar for an Ola cell phone last Feb.
Purchased at Exito in Poblado with the help of a Colombian friend.
I gave it to her as a gift when I departed.

dwmte to get the most minutes out of your refill cards buy the 50,000 peso cards from MOVIE STAR or COMCEL. OLA has a 20,000 peso card.with COMCEL you can save minutes by adding other comcel user numbers to your favorites list.before i make calls to other comcel users i make sure that i register their cell number in my favorite list first.with MOVIE STAR you can save minutes by signing up for their prepago plan which cost like 3,800 pesos per month.its much more expensive when you call other cell cariers ie. calling from COMCEL to MOVIE STAR.calling to other cell cariers will use up your minutes fast.you can also make inexpensive cell phone calls at your local internet cafe, corner store,on the street ect.its cheaper to use these cell phone minute vendors when making calls.
