Cordialmente,
Platón

goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 13:50: Pienso que ambos son igualmente importantes. pero uno podÃa ser más, dependiendo de la circumstancia y del mensaje. and, thank you. |
goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 13:53: Take Elmo for instance; In stark constrast to what Kat1 just wrote, the manner in which he writes, is his message. That's it. and, thank you. |

Plato says on Oct 28, 2006, 13:55: ¡Ja ja! Que interesante. Gracias. Claro que eso es lo ideal. ¿Pero piensas que es la realidad? ¿Si no, que preferÃas? |
Plato says on Oct 28, 2006, 14:03: Why was Elmo's name thrown into the mix right away? This is not about him. It's about sincere communication whether one expresses him/herself well or not. Plato says on Oct 28, 2006, 15:20: I’ve posted on other sites for many years. From time to time, questions of free speech came up because some posters expressed themselves harshly but sincerely. (Many of them were English, by the way, and the biggest proponents for civil liberties. Anti-Blair folks to say the least!) goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 18:34: It was not Elmo's name that was thrown in immediately, but his manner of writing. and, thank you. |
goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 18:52: english? biggest proponents of civil liberties??? Do you remember why some of them left for the Americas 400 or 500 years ago? That's funny, dude. Remember the Red Coats vs. the Blue Coats? Ben Franklin, and all those other guys? Remember "Give me Liberty or give me death" speech? and, thank you. |

Mario says on Oct 28, 2006, 19:30: A Private Site And one man can pull the plug if the children can't behave. So to take a famous quote of Benjamin Franklin out of context - and at the same time, use it as it applies to the members of PBH:

goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 23:30: One extreme is that Colombia is utopia Don't you think it's more of this, at the moment? Really, if you read back through so many posts of the last month, there are lots of people asking without fright, about where to go, how to rent a car, a good motel? on and on. Looks like the recent trend is lots of travelers just wanting the information. They don't seem scared or paranoid, and just want the correct information. I think only mostly Colombians are painting the 'utopia' picture of Colombia; everyone else, know they need to investigate, and make prudent decisions. I think. and, thank you. |
Mario says on Oct 28, 2006, 23:32: Well Rubito... My wife of one year and who I've had in my life for two; a lawyer from north Bogota, is leaving six sisters, her mother and father - nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles - all who she dearly loves - and all her friends she's known her entire life behind. She's also the mother of my child and totally devoted to our baby and our family.

goin_south says on Oct 28, 2006, 23:33: So, in general, I think More and more people are starting to open up to the idea of 'Colombia', and are doing so with prudence. and, thank you. |

famsearch says on Oct 28, 2006, 23:39: mario if you must use the quote, use the right version of it, which is: "The angle of the dangle is equally proportional to the heat of the meat provided that the urge to surge remains constant." dan |
Mario says on Oct 28, 2006, 23:44: famsearch This is MY version - I'm sticking to it - and it applies to what I'm into at all times haha. Besides, I've been using it this way for years and I'm not inclined to change the range of the diction... ;)

Rubito says on Oct 29, 2006, 05:38: Mario it tells me simply that ONE PERSON decided to leave her country, most probably for love. It's hardly a significant statistical sample ;) ---Violence is the price of freedom.--- |

famsearch says on Oct 29, 2006, 12:02: nostalgia.... especially for one's home, has a way of smoothing over the rough points, and enhancing the good ones. dan |
goin_south says on Oct 29, 2006, 12:41: Colombiche, I appreciate your lines of delineation But I did not generalize as you said; I did not say that ALL COLOMBIANS paint the picture of utopia, but I said that it was MOSTLY, or more so, Colombians rather than others that do so. and, thank you. |

utopiacowboy says on Oct 29, 2006, 16:42: You're right, Famsearch. People are always sentimental about their homelands despite its drawbacks. A place can be a total shithole but by God, if it's your shithole, it's the shithole Garden of Eden. A healthy segment of the US population would gladly offer Texas up to the Iranians and North Koreans for nuclear testing but to those of us who live there it's a wonderful place. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. |

goin_south says on Oct 29, 2006, 18:38: UTC... Only Odessa. and, thank you. |
utopiacowboy says on Oct 29, 2006, 19:30: There are NFL players who have won Super Bowls but who played high school football for Odessa Permian. They still say that was the highlight of their playing careers. MOJO! It's a shithole but it's their shithole. Rubito says on Oct 29, 2006, 19:53: The question I keep asking myself is Just HOW important are economic opportunities? REALLY, how important are they? ---Violence is the price of freedom.--- |
goin_south says on Oct 29, 2006, 20:29: Since you can only 'live on love' up til about the age of 23, I think most would agree that economic opportunities are between 'somewhat' and 'very' important. If you are 17-19, it's only important to your dad/(let me not forget: those work-your-fingers-to-the-bone) moms. and, thank you. |

Rubito says on Oct 29, 2006, 21:07: I have a new philosophy I think if the fridge is full and you have enough free time to enjoy life, you are rich! ---Violence is the price of freedom.--- |

goin_south says on Oct 29, 2006, 23:16: Rubito As soon as my 15- and 16-year olds are 21- and 22-year olds, I'll probably just about be able to feel the same. and, thank you. |
Rubito says on Oct 30, 2006, 07:58: HAHAHAH yeah I understand I got a 5 year old and a 2 year old. The education system here sucks so that makes life a LOT more complicated. ---Violence is the price of freedom.--- |
