Thursday's CONAN O'BRIEN show included a tasteless joke about Uribe's visit to Bush's ranch...The joke bombed but none of you chimed in.

Mr. Hollywood says on Aug 5, 2005, 17:27: Actually I think that joke is more of a jab at Bush's long-rumored cocaine habit than at Colombia or Uribe. Still not hilarious but Conan never really has been.

ColombianoX says on Aug 5, 2005, 18:51: I've heard Jay Leno makes some pretty tasteless jokes about Colombia. And who can forget the "joke" that redneck David Letterman said about Miss Colombia a few years ago. He had to apologize after the colombian consulate in NYC complained. Sadly, it appears anti-colombian jokes are alive and well on late night US television. Interesting how they would never dare make jokes about some countries (i.e. Israel) but they see others as fair game (i.e. Colombia). These "jokes" will only continue until we colombian-(US)americans step up and complain about this disrespectful treatment of Colombia by these so-called late night comics. Gomezman5 says on Aug 5, 2005, 19:05: I agree with Cx....this was no joke Look, as everyone knows here, I have not been afraid to criticize the situation as I see it in Colombia, although there are signs that things are improoviing from a security perspective, albeit they are improving rather slowly and there still a long way to go.

kernow62 says on Aug 6, 2005, 07:05: You guys are taking this way too seriously, it is humour or a feeble attempt at humour. This has been going on probably long before the Romans made jokes about Greeks entering through the back door. It is I believe part of a root human need to make fun of those that are different. Like it or not I don't think it will ever change. In the USA if you want to pick on a stupid person you make the Polock (sp?) jokes, in the UK they use the Irish, in Ireland they use the English, in Argentina they make fun of those from Chile.... as they say what goes around. We will all get our chance to laugh at the expense of someone else, but who takes it seriously.

Miguel says on Aug 6, 2005, 07:21: Si Señor Here in St. Louis we love to bust those sorry ass Chicago Cubs fans. The intent of the original post was to make sure our astute board memebers were not asleep at the wheel. I'll bet Conan will think twice before using Colombia jokes in the future; as I stated, the joke was a bomb.

Miguel says on Aug 6, 2005, 15:31: G5 The Red Sox...incredibly hot at the right time last year as both the Cardinals and Yankees found out. The White Sox are very impressive. How unfortunate for you Cubs fans to never have actually seen your team play in a World Series. It was great to be able to watch the last Cards-Cubs three game series on ESPN2 in Barranquilla.
