Hello everyone. I´ve been in Cali since last Saturday. Everything is great. The line at the airport when I arrived was so long but lucky for me I had my infant with me and went to the other line. It was great as people were sweating their traseros off..No hay aire acondicionado en el aeropuerto!! Got my lugguge and we were off...
I love this place..I´ve been going to the gym and man it is so hard to concentrate with all these good women teasing you. Geez, on the second day all of the women at the gym no me by first name and want to work out with me. It´s that I am kind of buff and 190 metros. Thus, I am a king here. Although the trainer here is cool I can see he is a little heated that I am taking all of the attention from him...LOL
I would like to thank Desideria and everyone else for the info. I had brought an unlock phone from the USA but it wasnt working right with the SIM ¨COMCEL¨ 21000 pesos so I bought I nice phone with another SIM for 81000. I needed a cedula which I don´t have but I used someones cedula. I have two numbers..Que bacano.
Chipichape was ok but the ladies there damn..I got into an argument with my suegra... She was saying that I was looking too hard..LOL... I am very please with Cali thus far..Driving is great since I have experience this type of driving from my parents country..I feel at home and love taking cold showers which is great here..que calor..LA 14 have just about everything but things are really expensive here. A highchair for my ¨nene¨ cost 315,000.00 pesos..which I didn´t buy..I will send him one for half of that when I get back from the states.
La Ciudad Jardin is beautiful I had a chance to visit some people that live there. Those house a big and with nice pool and lots of room to play. And here I thought every Colombian was rushing to leave for economic reasons.. Some here are living well. Beware of Distrito Agua Blanca..yikes...The universities here are great Santo Thomas, Javeriana are real nice. I also went to Colombo Americano which is a English institute..my sons nephew is taking some courses there..which is not bad...EXITO is like a WALMART..
What else..oh I went to the dentist down here just to accompany someone and ended getting some work done..very cheap..and great job too..SONRIA have a lot of great dentist which in my opinion are better than the USA..si BETTER than USA although they seem to not be very punctual here and lack some professionalism. I was starting to worry when the doctor was on the cell phone doing some work on me..this guy has like three girlfriends and he is giving to the secretary too..Geez, what a Don Juan..
Well, I am at an internet cafe which is super cheap..1800 pesos por hora..which is great..calling international from my cell is not that great i have bought so many cards..I am now going to the phone center and tell people to call my cell..incoming is gratis..
Oh the libreria nacional is very nice I have bought some books that I know I wouldn´t find in the states. Some books here are more expensive than in the STATES..but the bookstores are full of young intellectuals...
I am going to San Antonio later on..and Lago Calima mañana. I took pictures of so many places..Cristo Rey La Tres Luces..
I love this place I can´t wait to come back which will be soon. If you guys have any suggestions let me know..I might go to Juanchito but I dont know..will see..I am more focused on having everything set for my son who will be here until Janaury..
HASTA Luego..

billyb says on Oct 5, 2006, 18:42: Qubo, if you have the time... check out the Haciendas Cañas Gordas and Pichinche. They are hundreds of years old and are preserved as museums and gives you an idea of how the patricians lived in the colonial era. Aslo try to check out La Maria, another finca/museum where Jorge Isaacs wrote the novel by the same name. Lots of history in those, if you're interested. Sounds like you are having a real good time.

Well last night I went to La Mora and took some great pics of the Statue and also the 3 Cruces which was lit. I also went to San Antonio and bought some artifacts and bags. Very cheap if I would of known I would´ve never bought anything at Chipichape..expensive..oh well, i am still happy with what I bought. I am having so much fun and i am a little upset that I´ll be leaving this Sunday. Colombia is great will Cali which is where I am and the ambiance feels so much like home.

Desideria (Moderator) says on Oct 7, 2006, 15:19: Sounds like you're having a great time in Cali, Qubo. I really like Lago Calima too, especially for the change of climate. We tried to do some waterskiing but it was more like swimming with skies attached to our feet. There's a nature preserve near Palmira called Nirvana, it's private and I've never been there but I 've heard it's really nice. "When shall we three meet again?
