Que Bacana!!

Hello everyone. I´ve been in Cali since last Saturday. Everything is great. The line at the airport when I arrived was so long but lucky for me I had my infant with me and went to the other line. It was great as people were sweating their traseros off..No hay aire acondicionado en el aeropuerto!! Got my lugguge and we were off...

I love this place..I´ve been going to the gym and man it is so hard to concentrate with all these good women teasing you. Geez, on the second day all of the women at the gym no me by first name and want to work out with me. It´s that I am kind of buff and 190 metros. Thus, I am a king here. Although the trainer here is cool I can see he is a little heated that I am taking all of the attention from him...LOL

I would like to thank Desideria and everyone else for the info. I had brought an unlock phone from the USA but it wasnt working right with the SIM ¨COMCEL¨ 21000 pesos so I bought I nice phone with another SIM for 81000. I needed a cedula which I don´t have but I used someones cedula. I have two numbers..Que bacano.

Chipichape was ok but the ladies there damn..I got into an argument with my suegra... She was saying that I was looking too hard..LOL... I am very please with Cali thus far..Driving is great since I have experience this type of driving from my parents country..I feel at home and love taking cold showers which is great here..que calor..LA 14 have just about everything but things are really expensive here. A highchair for my ¨nene¨ cost 315,000.00 pesos..which I didn´t buy..I will send him one for half of that when I get back from the states.

La Ciudad Jardin is beautiful I had a chance to visit some people that live there. Those house a big and with nice pool and lots of room to play. And here I thought every Colombian was rushing to leave for economic reasons.. Some here are living well. Beware of Distrito Agua Blanca..yikes...The universities here are great Santo Thomas, Javeriana are real nice. I also went to Colombo Americano which is a English institute..my sons nephew is taking some courses there..which is not bad...EXITO is like a WALMART..

What else..oh I went to the dentist down here just to accompany someone and ended getting some work done..very cheap..and great job too..SONRIA have a lot of great dentist which in my opinion are better than the USA..si BETTER than USA although they seem to not be very punctual here and lack some professionalism. I was starting to worry when the doctor was on the cell phone doing some work on me..this guy has like three girlfriends and he is giving to the secretary too..Geez, what a Don Juan..

Well, I am at an internet cafe which is super cheap..1800 pesos por hora..which is great..calling international from my cell is not that great i have bought so many cards..I am now going to the phone center and tell people to call my cell..incoming is gratis..

Oh the libreria nacional is very nice I have bought some books that I know I wouldn´t find in the states. Some books here are more expensive than in the STATES..but the bookstores are full of young intellectuals...

I am going to San Antonio later on..and Lago Calima mañana. I took pictures of so many places..Cristo Rey La Tres Luces..

I love this place I can´t wait to come back which will be soon. If you guys have any suggestions let me know..I might go to Juanchito but I dont know..will see..I am more focused on having everything set for my son who will be here until Janaury..

HASTA Luego..

hola qubo you sound just like me after my first week in Cali last winter minus the gym part...jaja

See if you can make an appointment to see the Icesi (University) in Pance. It's really nice.

Good malls: Palmetto, Cosmocentro, Unicentro and Jardin Plaza. Don't miss the Zoo and the restaurant Cali Viejo near the Zoo.

Does your internet café have one those cards you get a stamp every time you go there and after every 10 hours you get a free hour?

Enjoy yourself wish I was there,
Cheers,
Desi

Qubo, if you have the time... check out the Haciendas Cañas Gordas and Pichinche. They are hundreds of years old and are preserved as museums and gives you an idea of how the patricians lived in the colonial era. Aslo try to check out La Maria, another finca/museum where Jorge Isaacs wrote the novel by the same name. Lots of history in those, if you're interested. Sounds like you are having a real good time.

Just a little detail The La Maria finca/museum is called El Paraiso and is situated just north of Palmira, less than an hour's ride from Cali.

Hello Everryone Quihubo everyone. Thanks for advice Desi and everyone else. I will definitely take your suggestions into consideration. Well last night I went to La Mora and took some great pics of the Statue and also the 3 Cruces which was lit. I also went to San Antonio and bought some artifacts and bags. Very cheap if I would of known I would´ve never bought anything at Chipichape..expensive..oh well, i am still happy with what I bought. I am having so much fun and i am a little upset that I´ll be leaving this Sunday. Colombia is great will Cali which is where I am and the ambiance feels so much like home.

I also went to Alto Menga which is very very nice. I am getting into so much trouble with mi suegra. The women here are aggressive which makes them even more appealing. Wait let me explain b4 people read me wrong. They give you the eye and you give the eye back with a wink. I went to la Sexta yesterday and saw this gringo with a nice monument(mujer) but it was funny because he barely could speak spanish and she was just nodding her head..LOL. I hope it´s not any of you guys on PB...LOL Yell, what else can I say so for I am impressed and as long as you come here with an open mind and not expect people to bend over backwards you´ll enjoy this place. All I´ve hearing since I´ve been here is ¨que chusco¨. Oh I forgot to tell you guys there was a manifestation at Uni Valle and a student got shot...they blocked that whole section off.

The taxi drivers here are nuts and I recommend calling a cab to get the ¨llave¨ for comfort. I took a cab from the street the other day and this guy was dipping and weaving everywhere. And talking to me at the same time about how nice his house and car is. I nodded my head and kept quiet. Do not give ¨papaya¨ is the moto. Less convo the better. Anyway, guys thanks again. Im off to enjoy the beautiful day . Oh I also took pics of the church which is silver and lights up I think its around Avenida Colombia.

Oh, me argentino..I am for from that.. I don´t stand out in Cali at all..many people hear look just like me..mulatto.. I have seen alot of Ecuadorians here and Bolivians here...Anyway, guys let me get out of hear..hasta luego..

Mira VE The wife is not here with us. When I mean getting to an argument its nothing serious just small jokes that the suegra makes. I kept help but to look anyway, the women are looking back harder..It´s all in fun. I didn´t come for that but just sharing my daily experience with you guys.

Ok, today I went to lago Calima..damn it was a great scenic drive..wow Colombia is really nice. It was so cool and are was so clean there unlike Cali..geez, pullotion here is bad but the government are trying to curtail it with something called ¨pico y placa¨. The road was safe and alot of aguacate head several checkpoints so the government is doing its best to make the citizens of Colombia and extranjeros feel safe.

Tomorrow I am heading to El paraiso thanks for the recommendation BillyB and Des. Well, I have to go guys hope to inform you guys later.

Tinto out all that I´ve wrote that is the only thing you can think of asking..C´mon..Bueno listo..

Sounds like you're having a great time in Cali, Qubo. I really like Lago Calima too, especially for the change of climate. We tried to do some waterskiing but it was more like swimming with skies attached to our feet. There's a nature preserve near Palmira called Nirvana, it's private and I've never been there but I 've heard it's really nice.

For more short trips, I'd recommend the Carretera al Mar (the Road to Buenaventura) there are some nice restaurants at Km18 and 30, La Cumbre and Pavas.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Desi
