Quality Enlish language Schools

Hello again,

Just posted my travelogue a few days ago and got some interesting comments but it doesn´t seem the place to post a series of entries. To recap, got to Bogota last week, have a BA, CELTA and no experience teaching english. I´m learning more about the situation here and I´ll post something informative when I come closer to solving this puzzle that is Colombia. For now, I´d like to pay a visit to a few good schools here in Bogota. I just finished re-reading the "Teaching English in Colombia" greatest hits put together by Peter and I don´t think this is a rehash.

So I´m asking which are the good schools which begs the question what are good schools. I got my CELTA with International House which is a good cert from a good school so I have an idea what I´m looking for. A good library for teachers for starts. A DOS that knows his/her stuff. Some sort of feedback or quality control on my teaching. In other words, a place where you would want to go if you were to go to a language school.

Some personal preferences and already done thats. 1) I want to teach at least some adult students. 2) Also I´m already aware of Centro Colombo, the British Council and the admittedly slim chance of working at a university. Obviously I´m not in it for the money although I´ll need enough to get by.

Hope there´s some people that care about teaching and know of some places.

My experience I taught English in Bogota for a while. I ended up working for a small private school (willing to hire me without a work Visa)that did one on one corporate gigs, but they have since closed. I made something like 15 thousand an hour, but spent a lot of unpaid time traveling from office to office.

I would encourage you to go to Berlitz. The pay isn't great, but it is a good well structured place. I interviewed there and they were very enthusiastic. Willing to sponsor you for a work visa, but you have to pay for the flight to Ecuador or Panama.

Hope this helps.

Isn't there an online directory of "educational" institutions
that offer education at the level you wanna teach.

copy paste and you have something where people can add their personal comment on a fly ;-)

Sometimes people needs a kick/some help.

And making things easy to reply/comment to also increase the risk of more people responding ;-)
