Problem at Airport...

As I type my wife was just detained for an hour and a half when coming back from Bogota right now... this is the first time she has taken her son back... Entering the US...they took her in a room and interrogated her for over a hour and a half.. about her sons Permaneent resident card(10year),, on his first 2 year conditional card.. they transposed his date on the DOB.... so we had to file for a replacement card..with the right DOB.....supposedly... they had a problem with that( even though we have new cards again(10 year) ...she tried to explain that it was their fault and error originally.. but they were very brutal... making her miss her flight... and now is stuck in an airport wait 7 hours to get an avail flight.....ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT THEIR PURPOSE WOULD BE FOR ALL THIS.... FRUSTRATED WAITING FOR MY COLMBIAN TO RETURN..... thanks

Some countries, like COlombia, are a red flag "I have no idea why they would get BUGGED OUT" - just being Colombian makes you a suspect :)

I am not Colombian but was questioned at Houston coming back from Colombia once when travelling on a British passport. I was surprised by the amount of information they got from a background check they had run.

They asked good questions (though I did not like the rude accusatorial manner in which they asked them):

Why did you buy your ticket to Colombia just one day before you flied?

If your trip was for business why did you use your personal credit card to buy the ticket?

What is the phone number of where you stayed in Colombia?

Who can we call in Colombia to verify your info, etc.

My uncle was also detained for a much longer period at Houston and missed his flight. He was travelling to Turkey on an Iranian passport.

I've been questioned (not to the extent of you, vladimiro) and thought it was odd. I even told the one guy in the immigration booth something, then next thing i know, I got someone else questioning me about something that I told the other guy. nothing too intense but still struck my as being a little too weird.

God Bless America!
