Problem Entering U.S. Embassy

I can't bielieve what I`m hearing,that an american can't enter an american emabassy!? I've travelled all over the world and NEVER had to make an appt. to enter my own embassy. Who the hell is refusing entrance? Some asshole colombian guard? Are'nt there any marines there?
Before I travel 9 nine hours I want to be damn sure I can get in the building. Like you waterdawg I'm ex-military.(In fact in my younger days I was a marine who was assighned at the embassy in London.)
Anyone else have any problems lately?
I will call the Emabassy Monday and write back with any info.given.
