So? Is it a bad week to go for parties? We are booked for May 26-31. Can anyone please give more detail as to what to expect and whether or not this is a good choice of travel dates? It's not like it's a weekend getaway to Jersey shore. Thanks again.

Some things are worth dying for Is it a bad week to go for parties? We are booked for May 26-31.

If I were staying in a big city I’d probably schedule a May 15th arrival and stay 3 months but it’s still pretty nice in the U.S. so I limit my time to the “utility bill seasons.

Bad time for going to the clubs and drinking but other activities should be perfect. Party,, any grouping in Colombia is a “party. I don’t drink, but many do. Some of my best entertainment is watching drunks. You need to be sober New Years Eve because that night is NOT one to be missed, the drunks are only a minor part of what goes on. News years is the opening night for 30 days of festival.

There shouldn’t be many folks obstructing the views around tourist areas. Indoor activities should be considered. Bring extra batteries. Avoid large crowds unless of course there are nude protesters, bring binoculars just in case.

Presidential election years are more of a problem. I doubt anything happened last year,, but maybe.

Mortar attacks and bombs missed Uribe the first time. They did kill a few civilians and kids. For what it's worth, the same thing might happen again and you'd be "safe", however, I'm waiting to book. I get a ticket good for a year, but I hate paying that $50 date change fee.

In reality, you might have jumped into the pot,, from the fire but drinking should be no problem.

During the 10 weeks between Uribe’s (last) election and inauguration, the FARC launched another wave of attacks, leaving an estimated 1,000 people dead and thousands more displaced. In Cucuta, a mid-size city near Colombia’s border with Venezuela, the World Food Program registered 16,000 newly displaced persons.

PS: Is there a chance of nude protests?
