Premier Trip to COLOMBIA!!!

I just wanted to take a moment and report a little about my "first trip ever to Colombia"! Of course there are many stories all in one, and I will save them for when I have more time and a keyboard that I can full relate to!

First two days in CALI!!! Muy Bueno!!! Staying at the Intercontinental Hotel! First Class place, with my First Class lady, originally a Calena, but now from Pasto!

This is a total kick!!! Loving every minute of it! She drove me to Kilometer 18 and further today! Incredible! The montanas.... and just being in some other place than the USA,... is very refreshing.... to observe, and to appreciate life here, and there, back home.... both.

I do not know if it has really completely hit me, that I am in Colombia.... It probably will become so real, with great nostalgia! when I have to board that plane in a few more days to go home.

Everyone has been very nice to me... No concerns with security... and, I AM EVEN DRINKING THE WATER! jajaj

No Problemas!

J. U., I have called your number a few times, and it was busy. I am already planning my next trip..... mas pronto.... por favor.... I find myself many times, can not even remember english words, because my peabrain is working so hard trying to hear, understand, and speak a little spanish.

I think back to all I have read here on PBH, and it is like the rest of life.... to be taken with a grain of salt, because everyone's experience is unique, but still you have to draw upon the knowledge of others.... and with a little bit of good fortune.....You might think you are in some sort of Disneyland!

Mas tarde!

ps....It beats the hell out of being in Louisiana for now!

glad to hear that! i am happy to hear you are having a great time! i live in miami and also recently experienced my first trip to cali---and colombia for that matter.

katrina hit my area fairly hard for a cat1, but obviously i wish all your family and friends the very best in their efforts to recover from the disaster.

keep seeing the sights. i stayed in a different area of the city: at the hotel plaza versalles. but i drove by the intercontinental while seeing the river cali, and the statue of sebastian belecazar.

be sure to go see the church en el centro...just have fun!

and you are exactly right about the refreshing feeling of being in another country...really helps clean out all the current worries in your head for a while.

take care!

Glad to hear that you made it out of your room. I was worried about that.

Hotels in Cali Anyone traveling to Cali should check out Cali Plaza; (Some information here copied from Cali Plaza website: www.CaliPlaza.com. Cali Plaza is an Apartment/Condominium building with Rental Suites. It is American Owned and one of the most convenient locations in Cali:
Over 50 Restaurants, Bars, and Discotecs within walking distance. 3 ATM’s within 1/2 block. Travel Agencies, Grocery and Convenience Stores, and Laundries nearby. Almost everything you need within walking distance. Cali Plaza is ideally located in the middle of the Tourist and Entertainment District of Sixth Avenue in Cali, ...also located a few blocks from Downtown and Business District. (Check out their photo section at CaliPlaza.com and you can view the rooms and see the convenience of their location.) The website is in English.

Most everyone visiting Cali, visits Sixth Avenue; ... Staying in the middle of this area is convenient, plus saves time and money spent on transportation.

Cali Plaza Administrator and Owner both speak English, therefore many Americans hang out there. ... For any of you wanting marriage visas or information, Gonzalo Services is also located in Cali Plaza. They do more visas in Cali, than anyone else.
