Poverty Guidelines

Help!! I need clarification on this matter, My annual income for 2004 was a little over $20,000.00 due to being unemployed for about 4 months. I was looking at the poverty guidelines for 2005 and for a family of 2 (me and my fiance) the required is $16,037.00, so does that mean that we are ok? Are my bank statements and assets not necessary? Please anyone that can clarify this matter would be of great help. Appreciate it.

rayo They are going to want to see your bank statements even if you have your tax statements and w-2's for the last three years. Since you are as close to the poverty line as you are I would suggest that you list all your assets. It can only help.

BANK STATEMENTS YOU MAKE ENOUGH MONEY, WE JUST GOT BACK FROM THE EMBASSY, AND THEY LOOKED AT MY 2002 2003 AND 2004 TAX RETURNS, SHE FIRST COULDN'T FIND MY 2004'S WHICH I SHOWED 18.5K AND SHE SAID I DIDN'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY, I SHOWED HER MY BANK STATEMENT ALONG WITH A LETTER FROM MY BANK STAMPED AND ALL, WHICH SHOWED I HAD 148K IN MY CHECKING ACCOUNT ALONE AND SHE SAID THAT IT DIDN'T MATTER, THEY NEEDED TO SEE PROOF OF INCOME EACH YEAR, THAT I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT 148K FROM ANY PLACE. I NEEDED A CO SIGNER, THEN SHE FOUND MY 2004 RETURNS AND SHE SAID O NO YOU MAKE ENOUGH 18,500.00 APPROVED.
