Rubiazo says on May 4, 2005, 10:45: I knew I was in trouble when I saw the Mickey D's logo at the bottom of the exclamation point in the first page. What a bunch of corporate American bullshit propaganda. I think the further Colombia gets from the USA the better off it will be.

Rubiazo says on May 4, 2005, 11:10: I don't think that's what I was talking about. Regardless of Harvard And McVomit's and all that other stuff, the whole tone of that pdf is highly offensive, talking about how we gringos need to help Colombia with their problem because we are 'really the cause of it'. The best way we could help Colombia with their problem is by fixing our own problems here, not by spraying coca fields with chemicals, damaging the environment, killing women and children, and creating popular support for the guerillas!

kernow62 says on May 4, 2005, 11:22: Rubiazo you obviously don't buy into the claim that the chemicals they are spraying do not enter the soil or water. Good for you, I don't believe it either. All the chemicals good or bad have effects beyond their intended purpose. I grow a garden myself and am very careful what I put on my plants, even fertilizer can have a negative effect, I try to use old egg shells, banana peels, fish as fertilizer. Of course if these are contaminated! Yikes I can't win.

kat1 (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on May 4, 2005, 11:36: As far as know round up is no harmful to humans it will kill all green things and aquatic life. and this is the problems the campesinos had, the yucca and plantain fields are being killed with this stuff.

kernow62 says on May 4, 2005, 12:06: I can't very well eat my prize roses now can I? I didn't say it was a vegetable garden. I know rose petals can be eaten and rose hips are high in vitamin C, but almojabanas taste so much better. My roses are container grown to hopefully cut out some of the effects from my neighbours gardens.

Scalestick says on May 4, 2005, 16:52: manual eradication gets my vote. I don't like the concept of dropping chemicals. I really can't believe any propaganda that says it does no harm.
