bump This post for some reason never made it into the Friendly Talkzone Forum ... if others note this problem with their posts, please let me know, I figured out how to fix this.

I have just translated that Its quite moving, very good.

One problem, I use a an electronic translator and it often comes up with a lot of nonsense. My own Spanish is still rudimentary. I would love to have a proper translation of that to send to my lady.

Anyone? Please!! (I will be a good boy, I promise)

at least I tried! For Mondays that are holidays
For chitos (cheese doodles), the Colombiana soda pop, the ices and the milk smoothies
For the sancocho, the bandeja paisa nd the ajiaco (all typical dishes)
For picnics with the cooking pot, the tamales and platano toasts with sauce
For guava paste (a dessert) with cheese and arepa de huevo (corn griddle cakes with egg)
For the Divine Child, the Miracle Maker of Buga, The castillo de la Popa and the Santa Rosa thermals
Because there are words like "pecueca" (bad odor in your feet) and "guayabo" (hangover)
For the legends of the Weeper, the One-foot and the Mohan
For the mid-morning snacks, the elevens and " a little something"
For the avocado, the papaya, the lulo, the mamoncillo and the mango (all fruits)
For the beauty pageants, the snake pits (people who owe you money) and happy saturdays (a tv-programme)
For the Farallones of Cali (mountains west of Cali), Monserrate,Juanchaco (a beach on the Pacific), Ladrilleros (idem), Bocagrande
For hot pandebono (cheese rolls), manimoto and bombom bum (lollipop with a chewing gum inside)
For the people who applaud when the plane lands
For the country folk with callous hands and clear eyes
For the fireworks, the Old Year dolls, mapalé and cumbia

The list goes on and on. If every each one of us would add our own reason to it the list would reach the moon and multiply like the stars. Let's not be cowed by the violence, there's more of us that love Colombia and don't want any more bloodshed, no more corruption, no more drug dealers, no more drug senators, no more little politicians of the sewage. Colombia with its three cordilleras, two oceans, the plains, the jungles and the rivers will be the home of peace and progress. The smile on the faces of its children and good crops will see the light of the day.

Cheers,
Desi

Thanks Desi ... you filled in the blanks Grin .. I do recognize some of the Colombianized words now:

chitos = cheetos in USA = "I want my cheesy puffs" (South Park)

bombom bum = I think Tootsie Roll makes this one ...

I love this one:
Because there are words like "pecueca" (bad odor in your feet) and "guayabo" (hangover)

Thanks for the translation. That wasn't "Gracias por los chiquitos"? Oh that was Elmo's thread. Sorry.

Oh no, bon bon bums are nothing like tootsie pops, they are closer to charms pops which are available in Colombia too. However bon bon bums from Colombina are in a class by themselves.
