Por fin! A real ceviche in Colombia!

OK, now I´m sure there are some good ceviche places in the big cities but this tomato ketchup, mayo thing everywhere else just doesn´t work for me. So, when I found this new place in Taganga that has a real peruvian ceviche. Ah, yeah!!!

The owner Jesse used to work at Gaton and Astrid, the famous Peruvian place, in Bogota. He recently opened his local, Madame Tagange just down the hill from the La Casa De Felipe. At 12 mil for a ceviche this baby is sure to please. He also has other great food. His grilled fish are wonderful as well.

Anywho, for those that are in the area this is a real gem. Especially if you are sick of the same menu in every place. If I have to just look at another patacone frito.... you get my drift. Check it out. He opens around 4pm.

enjoy

Real ceviche....YES. I introduced my novia to the real thing, and she was pleasantly surprised. Almost all Colombians have no idea what real ceviche is. They take it as a matter of course that the '50s style retro-shrimp cocktail (complete with 1000 Islands/Russian dressing) is the only type of ceviche available. There are two Peruvian restaurants in Cali, both run by family members from Huanuco (a bit odd as Huanuco is a bit out of the way and is by no means a major Peruvian city) but these restaurants are by peruvian standards below average. I am going to have to make it to Taganga.

billyb- If it follows the one in Lima, it will be equally as great. It is a more causal place only open for lunch but with great seafood and very good prices. And interesting bit of info was it was shut down for a time because the owners had refuse to allow blacks into the place repeatly. The star chef claimed he knew nothing about it and blamed it on the soccer player partner. The food and vibe are awesome. Had lunch sitting next to president Alejandro Toledo a few time. Very nice guy
