PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Just got back from Bogota and was very dissapointed that our visa was turned down. The reason - There was one letter difference in the my fiance's middle name between her birth certificate and passport - (a silent h). Everything else was okay. All I can say is the experience was not pleasant. I think the chairs in the waiting area are made of old barbed wire. The wait was almost 7 hours and there is no information given to you at any time. My novia was very upset as we wanted to get married in Miami next month. This was my 7th trip to Colombia and I continue to be very impressed with the Colombia.

My wife had to get her birth certificate fixed becasue her middle name was written Xiomara instead of Zeomara. utopiacowboy says on Mar 29, 2005, 12:16: Why? Because you can't do this any more, that's why. In July, 2003 they changed the requirements at the US embassy. Only US citizens who have a cedula and reside in Colombia can apply directly at the US embassy. Stop telling people this. It might have worked back in 2001 or 1995 but you can't do it anymore.
