Maybe its my internet provider, I got cable and a fat connection and now we have 12.15 , midday here and usually at this time its OK, I have more trouble in the evening when all the kids are online.
Still, yesterday evening I had no problems with this page.

Ok on this end too Your ISP, maybe. Your connection speed maybe to slow. Is it a dial-up? If so, disconnect and reconnect. Maybe you should just empty your temp files, restart your computer, and then go back on line.
That should probably solve your problem.

please let me refund your membership fee hey just kidding. sounds like you need a firewall for your connection. Someone might be sharing your bandwidth.

Gomez, viejo man, I got a firewall and 1500MB (cable)connection. I can usually download 10 megabyte in less than a minute. So, it cant be that.

same today, it doesnt work properly every now and then.
In the statusbar is then written: waiting for pagead2.googlesyndication.com

guess it would be better to take that: "pagead2.googlesyndication.com" out. It disturbs.

UMM: try a different browser. Which one are you using? There've been no problems at my end.

Hm, I've no experience with Firefox. Try to look through its Preferences
or Options and see if you can set the display mode. Namely, make sure the
page is displayed as it is being loaded. Some browsers will wait until the
whole code is downloaded before displaying the page. And then when you have
active feeds or crappy programming which prevents a part of the site from
loading, you get a blank screen.

If that doesn't work, try to connect via a proxy server. http://www.stayinvisible.com/
If you manage to connect, it'll mean there's something wrong with your ISP.
If you don't, well, then I've not a clue because everyone else seems to be
viewing the site fine.

I got fixed cable internet connection and in moments like that all other websites I usually visit work fine.

Thats what I have tried out first before simply complaining.

If poorbuthappy doesnt react any more , i just go to google or see if my own new forum works and it is always OK. Meaning that the internet connection works fine.

I always have to log out for a while and go back in then it works again.

Strange, right? Or is the reason 'popular demand', high traffic load on this page?

Hmmm, it IS weird. If you have another browser on your computer, try using
that and see what happens. I still think it's probably some FireFox glitch.

browser issue FireFox has some issues ... if you don't like IE try Opera, a very good free browser: www.opera.com

tzion says on Jan 13, 2005, 12:21:

Well, FireFox is at the very Well, FireFox is at the very first public version so issues are expected.
Opera is OK (but I found it to be unstable) and Netscape is fine, too, but
bloated like nobody's business. I'm doing OK with MSIE after having tried all
the alternative dreck: sooner or later "alternative" browsers throw up some
problem. Trying to make my website cross-browser compatible drove me nuts.
It seems the moment you stray into XHTML or CSS Opera, FireFox and others
pack it in. MSIE has its drawbacks but I've adapted to it over the past ten
years. :)

Lionheart says on Jan 13, 2005, 12:25:

I agree tzion MS IE is the standard now, and commercial websites rely on its functionality. If you really refuse to use IE expect problems. Any web designer or web service developer will sing his/her song about cross-compatibility ... it will never be 100% and it is a nightmare to develop.

tzion says on Jan 13, 2005, 12:31:

Exactly. Besides, MSIE isn't that bad, is it? Of course there's room for
improvement--which is reportedly in the pipeline--but I've never found it
to be problematic. And I'm a person who at one point spent hours surfing
the net; using the whole multimedia shebang, too.

Ah just wait until you exprience an IE hi-jack
It's a true pain to get out of such an attack. That's what a couple of my friends report ;-)

I've been very happy with what Linux has had to offer and especially Mozilla Firefox. Don't worry ... it will get there ;-)

hijacking Beware what you install and download - MSN Plus is one of the worst evil-doers for example, installs malware and when you uninstall it attempts to install virii.

I use 3rd party programs to uninstall the hidden processes and trojans, not all are loaded by IE, most come from email. Anti-virus programs only do partial protection.

tzion says on Jan 13, 2005, 16:36:

Hijacking? It's never happened to me, primarily because I'm very security
conscious. You need to have a firewall, AV software and a good spyware/
malware/adware scanning and removal tool--that's the bare minimum. Of course,
you need to use and update each of them regularly. The firewall should be
also the hardware type (ie. a router) if you have a non-dialup connection.
The spyware scanner should be the "always-on" kind, ie. one which starts up
automatically and stays active for the duration of your using the computer.
You also want to get a popup blocker, disable Java (it is by and large
useless) and sort out various other security settings. Safe; then you won't
be jacked.

You should be doing all the above whichever browser you're using though.

PS. And, of course, what Lion said: download nothing you don't specifically
and consciously click on unless you're very sure you know what you're doing
(eg. plugins).

easy for those who know I run a network for an internet radio station 24/7, so I have a tight security here. But my DJs ... ugh ... I don't wanna even know what they do sometimes ... but doing online tech support can be a nightmare ...

YEP says on Jan 14, 2005, 12:49:

Just to make you relax again
First I don't use windows so I don't have to loose sleep over that ;-)

And yes I've got both a router / that's logged + firewall setup on linux so no worries mates.

I think our problems is related to to much load at the place where poorbuthappy is hosted or limits for that specific account (the account of the reseller where Peter probably bought his service).
