Poor But Happy Person Of The Year Nomination

Well, TIME Magazine chose George W. Bush. Now let's get real and cast our votes for our favorites here in PBH. Y para la gente aqui que puede traducir mi thread en el foro "Todo En Español", por favor, hacerlo. (Hola Angelica, Colombiano X, etc.)

Bueno, primero, quiero nombrar Peter. El jefe! Thanks for all of your work, your good judgment, and your tolerance. I hope to meet you someday in Colombia.

Other good posters (IMHO)...Gator, Utopia, Gomez, issac, Desi, Lionheart, Frank, Old Gringo, Laura, Mario...the list is long, and this is only my take.

What a great site this is. At times it is hard to wade through the bullshit (ok you colombianos y gringos que puede traducir eso!), it is a good resource. Thanks to all who have helped me, ridiculed me, and have answered my questions.

Sin embargo...Elmo es El Rey!

Feliz Navidad!

My vote it's for... Desi, she is always the voice of reason, and has such eloquent and witty responses. Tinto has proven to have lots of information on almost every matter regarding Colombia. But Desi is definately the one I find the friendliest and smartest; her english and spanish are amazing! :)I liked her since she welcomed me to the ColombiaExperts mailing list about 2 years ago!
Feliz Navidad Desi, Cali te manda saludos! :D

My vote Lauthra,

The hottest, sexiest caleña ever.
Plus she´s clever, speaks fluent english, and is incredibly caring.

If nepotism isn´t allowed though, my vote goes for Desi - not only for her intelligent and reasoned points of view, but for putting up with the femi-nazi comments from men with brains situated just south of the (most likely rather large) waistline.

better discussed on another forum,

while maybe not the poorest, must be the HAPPIEST!!!!

this year,with all the problems,delays,disasters,calamities,disfunctions,
catastrophes, dilemmas, that are the fabric of life in colombia,
the positive energy inherent in this community has added to the
fun of navigating the river that eventually has carried me to bliss
with la commandante......

don't vote for me, in fact, don't vote for anyone,
it's too competitive,we have enough to compete for daily.
just say thanks to those you appreciate.

Hmm I vote Lathra as sexiest..wait that isnt a catagory that isnt a catagory?

ok then my vote for best informed would be Utopia. He has been at least a step ahead of me in everything I did, I dont know who guided him but he certainly showed me how.

Then Desi. I wish she would show her picture.

ColombianoX and Tinto, you two help me see the Colombian side of issues and damn there are some good people here.

Peter, dont end the year wondering if the effort is worth it to maintain this board, I hold you in very high esteem for all you do.

My journey is almost at an end, since Angelica and Danny are coming in January, however the adventure soon begins.

Maybe we can talk Utopia into a new catagory: MARRIAGE to a Colombian, and we can commiserate, share stories and give the names of good attorneys HAHAH I WAS KIDDING ON THE LAST ONE.

I know from the posts here, that I should at least hide my money in my mobile home safe (along with any heavy phones) and to keep my pistola out of ball-shooting range.

Happy Holidays to all!

i think they're right, marrit, we just have to put you up at the top of the heap. with so many concerned and knowledgeable posters, you remain 'the voice of reason'. you manage by your own discipline to remain civil in your posts and comments. would that the rest of us might ameliorate our propensity, in these days, to focus, in such an attacking fashion, the posters, and not on taking issue with the issues.

do enjoy these special days with your family and try to keep warm in that sub zero land. brrrrrrrrrrr

must confess, i don't envy one bit a journey into the cold. hell, here in florida, it's cold. in comparison with finland, the use of the word 'cold' is an oxymoron.

No wonder I want to go to Cali!

I can't think of one single person who sticks out over everybody else, aside from Elmo. Almost everybody else contributes to topics one way or the other, reading all sides of the story creates the picture of Colombia ... not just a few sides. Elmo was already crowned the King anyway ...

Therefore I say thank you to everybody, and let's keep the ball rolling.

Guys, my Indian ass is honored to be nominated by some as a Person of the Year candidate, though I don’t feel worthy of such an honor. My contribution to this site has been of very little help, unless you’re in some high brow party and the subject of man, donkey love comes up, then all the info I’ve shared, regarding that subject, may be of some use. Remember you gotta run the burro down tie his ass to a tree and most important also tie his back legs together, cause that modefoque will kick you in the balls, and believe me when I tell you this, YOU DON’T WANT TO BE KICK IN THE BALLS BY A BURRO. Especially when your nuts are fully exposed.
I have also shared my detest for Colombia’s elite, and their women. So, why did I marry one? My initial inattention was to take this white, spoiled, highly educated, Poblado living, very fine young girl, bang the crap outta her and take off. She had made the mistake of acknowledging my existence (very rare for them) and that’s all I needed to land her lovely ass, but it turned out that after I banged her she had other intentions, like sticking to me like fresh gum on old shoe. The idea of getting back at the elite backfired, but I still get great pleasure in seeing her lawyer father squirm when she talks about how much she loves this poor old Indio bastard. Our dislike for one another is no secret. I dream of one day sending him a video of her very lovely daughter on all fours with me riding her like a burro, but my wife will kill me.

I'll get there, when I get there!

it's a long list I'm back in Stockholm now and trying to catch up with my reading...which is quite a task. I feel profoundely honored seeing my name pop up so many times in this thread and i've been trying to think up who'd be my choice; the list gets longer and longer all the time. There's so many good posters, and a whole wealth of excellent new posters who have been around only a short time, but are already contributing so much positive information and good vibes that it makes the choices really difficult.
Anyway, here are some of my favorites:
ColombianoX, for the pride and the passion.
Tinto, for the objective information, wit, and balance.
Viewpoint, for agreeing with me on most, if not all things :)))
Lauthra (Nato) for representing the modern, educated, smart and compassionate Caleña; the kind I can relate to and the kind many of my Caleña friends in real life are.
Litost and juanalejo for the Colombian reality check and intelligent posting,
Adela, for the same reasons as Nato.
Utopia (before he went into the spin phase)
Elmo, for the touch of costeño/NY variety of humor

I'll be back after work with more nominations:)
Cheers,
Desi

Never a comma out of context, never a misplaced period. You change from el thicko to smartypants in a flash from Mr Evil to a saint just as quickly.
There is of course another explanation. You are one (or all) of the following.

Lord Lucan?
Gentle Jesus?
Elvis Presley?
Manuel Gomez (A cobbler from Stoke Poges)
The first husband of one of my previous wives?
One of their Lawers
Or perhaps just a nice guy?

isaac sorry I snapped at you at the rainy, cold dawn far, far away....totally out of charcter for me:)
It would've been a lot easier for me to make a list of non-nominees since most everybody here have made great contributions over the year. My list is very subjective, of course, since I have no use for the mile-long threads about marriage visas or voip or deep-sea fishing...or marriage agencies. It doesn't mean that this kind of information may not be very valuable for some other people. Neither I'm dealing out just brownie-points. All the people on the list (and some more) have something unique to contribute, something that I find valuable for myself. One of the main reasons a lot of good posters didn't make it to my list is because they haven't been with us long enough; I intended this list include only people who've been active and frecuent contributors most of this year.
