Politics-Politics

I just finished watching the Palin-Biden debate.. I have read quite abit about politics, both for and against Uribe, I am curious, how engaged is the average Colombian in Colombian politics? It seems, off the cuff, that the average Colombian has a strong opinion abouts there leaders, Does it follow through to the ballot box?

in 2006, last time there were presidential elections in Colombia, the participation was 45,1 (the lowest in latin America in this study)%. Uribe received 61% of those votes.(The second highest prefencial candidate in Latin America after Hugo Chavez) It looks like only the people who supported Uribe bothered to vote at all.

There are only a couple of countrie sin Latin America that voting is voluntary, Colombia being one of them.

A vote for Obama is a vote for socialism, the FARC and Hugo Chavez. URIBE supports McCain and Plan Colombia is in doubt with Obama. Much of Uribe's success is from US government military aid whether you like it or not. Obama puts that support in question. John Kerry put that support in question as well.

I am not a big fan of John McCain but I know who McCain is and I have no clue as to Obama is other a self appointed activist with a millionaire dollar home. (A wife who seems to hate America?) I do not like the shaddy characters Obama has run around with in the past. A racist preacher for 20 years. "Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres".

If Uribe support is p and he supports McCain as he seems to do then I cannot see Colombians supporting OBAMA! Sorry if you disagree.

i agree with mike, sanandressi. you need to get off the fence and have an opinion that's based on factual issues--regardless which side you're on--and know why you believe what you believe.

mr mccain has been playin his worn out pow card for more than 30 years. fuck that. tens of thousands of americans spent time in the camps and aren't parading that nightmare around in public. and what was his job before prison? napalming villages.

so, that being said, mr. mccain is not some squeekie kleen saint. just another human being with a shit load of baggage. remember he was brought before the senate ethics committee for his part in the 'keating 5 scandal' he was number one on the list of officials taking favors from keating, and he's still going on and on as if he were the grandson of mr clean.

to berade mr obama and his wife a bit aside of fair.
