I just finished watching the Palin-Biden debate.. I have read quite abit about politics, both for and against Uribe, I am curious, how engaged is the average Colombian in Colombian politics? It seems, off the cuff, that the average Colombian has a strong opinion abouts there leaders, Does it follow through to the ballot box?

Desi1 (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on Oct 2, 2008, 23:28: in 2006, last time there were presidential elections in Colombia, the participation was 45,1 (the lowest in latin America in this study)%. Uribe received 61% of those votes.(The second highest prefencial candidate in Latin America after Hugo Chavez) It looks like only the people who supported Uribe bothered to vote at all. sanandressi says on Oct 3, 2008, 07:20: A vote for Obama is a vote for socialism, the FARC and Hugo Chavez. URIBE supports McCain and Plan Colombia is in doubt with Obama. Much of Uribe's success is from US government military aid whether you like it or not. Obama puts that support in question. John Kerry put that support in question as well.
