Political Asylum

Does anyone know the statistics about requesting political asylum in Colombia?

I figure when I finally am able to move to Colombia to be with my family I should do it with style and a statement.

Does anyone know about these politics?

In what country are you currently living in fear of being persecuted for your beliefs, practices or affiliations?

Asylum There was an article on the paper just last week, you might find it google, but it basically said the asylums in Colombia had multiplied by 10 or so in the last year, mostly people coming from Venezuela but also other latin countries and several middle eastern countries.

Actually Colombia..... has a long tradition of granting political asylum. Alan Garcia, current pres. of Peru being one and Cardona, the guy who took over from Chavez during the shorlived coup in Venezuela being another.

It's Possible The Colombian Constitution provides for it. Go the the MRE (Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores) Site at www.minrelext.gov.co and look in its Trámites y Servicios section. All in Spanish of course. The application would go through their office in the north end of Bogotá.
