goin_south says on May 27, 2007, 20:16: Swinn, no one's going to comment much because not many people here have or want to give much time to issues of RACE unless you are talking JUAN PABLO MONTOYA... and frankly, he isn't giving people much to talk about, lately. Except his wrecks. 'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. 'COLOMBIAN ENOUGH'?? jejeje..a mixture, I think, of stupidity mixed with a false sense of arrogance.. How 'colombian' do you have to be? to be 'colombian enough 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Swinn88 says on May 28, 2007, 15:56: I have noticed. You are right. With all the posts in the past dealing with race in colombia. All the statements about there being No rasism. I post Video and no one responds. PBH members are afraid to discuss the truth.

Swinn88 says on May 28, 2007, 17:12: I have participated in many forums on PBH about Race. That is why I have posted the Videos. The Videos answer many questions that have been posted in those forums. The interest is there. The problem as I see it is The Videos show colombians talking about race and race relations. I gather that it is more likely that people won't comment because they won't argue with the colombians in the video saying

Swinn88 says on May 28, 2007, 17:25: I also believe that PBH was originally meant to educate people about colombia. The Good and the bad but mostly the good. The videos are Perfect tools to educate people about colombia. The people that do not want to discuss it and prefer to go to sociology class to learn of such things are limited in knowledge, and quite possibly very ignorant. The Videos are PBH. It is why PBH was created. The Videos are Colombia.

goin_south says on May 29, 2007, 02:01: Here, Swinn....I don't think it's an issue. If I think a lady is pretty, it supercedes how light or dark she is. Personally, I like the cinammon and darker. White gringa meat does nothing for me. I prefer the other side of cinammon to dark. 'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. Swinn88 says on May 29, 2007, 08:51: Do a search please about Racism Forums here at PBH. You will find heated discussions about the topic. The fact that no one has responded to this proves my point. That the topic is only worth discussion in PBH if there are no facts to back the topic. So no I don't get it. I will continue to post the videos and invite people to discuss them. To educate them no more or less. If they want to stay awy from the topic they can stay away. If they want to view and discuss they can do that as well. You are the only one responding and I appreciate that, but tell me what you think about the videos. Not skin tone and pretty or what color you prefer. Because thats not what i'm looking for. So...lets continue this mess and try to learn from each other.

Swinn88 says on May 29, 2007, 09:40: You speak truths Miguel. It is alive everywhere. The Blacks of Colombia and the indigenous people of Colombia are looked upon as being less than those that are lighter skinned and dont have indian or negro features. What did you think of the video?

Robert Jorge says on May 30, 2007, 19:46: Swinn88, all due respect, but I wouldn't refer to the members lack of response to your video as them not knowing as much about Colombia as they profess. I still haven't watched the video myself. The title of your thread is "Please comment on these videos." That didn't interest me, and I had no idea what the videos were about, based on the thread title. I would guess that is the same for a lot of the people skimming through the threads. I would suggest a better thread title like, "Video on racism in Colombia", or something to that effect. --"I believe in making the world safe for our children. goin_south says on May 30, 2007, 22:48: I think far and away these days... MORE people look for quality people rather than white or black people. goin_south says on May 30, 2007, 22:50: Yeah, yer right Swinn Airdyne.. and, racism will live into eternity. And, that is why I wrote the above post. Because it's time for all to get that. Hell. I happen to think that reincarnation just might be what's on the other side, and ... you don't know what color you might be born into next time around... :) don't worry; beeeeee.....happy, and do good. Swinn88 says on May 31, 2007, 07:28: Thanks for the comment Robert. I have posted several threads with the Video titles and have posted the 1st video on this thread in the past with its title. I understand your views on the subject however, I would like you to watch the video and tell me what you think. Its only about 4 1/2 Minutes long. Racism abounds in all parts of this world. In some places it is less visable as in your case. Consider this...I have never seen anyone be killed in Colombia but it happens, I know it happens, Just like racism no matter how much or little you see of it. Let's not pick this apart and say it's here and not there or they have more racism than the others because ultimately It effects all of us no matter where we live. After many heated discussions on PBH about racism I find it odd that when videos are posted, Videos of afro-colombians and indio-colombians themselves saying "yes there is racism and no we don't have the same opportunities as our white counterparts", We shut up. When there is no evidence we Say there is no racism, The USA is worse, we are one race in colombia, or it's class discrimination not race. The evidence is in the videos and these people experience it. These people are colombians. Do we know more about it than they? We should discuss it we should learn from them and stop making baseless assumptions. So...PLEASE watch the videos I have posted and tell us what you think. Tell us what you did not know and now know. Tell us what you knew and are glad to see it getting some attention. Watch the video. They are all very educational and interesting. The best thing about them is that it is Colombia.

Swinn88 says on May 31, 2007, 07:30: By the way I know plenty of Black USA's with great Jobs. Some of them millionaires! That does not mean they are not discriminated against. It does not mean they are liked. All it means is that they are tolerated because they were able to somehow beat the odds. Watch "Palenque un Canto" It's about 45 minutes long but very interesting. Ill Post it again.
