There are a lot of good referral doctors here, not only in Cali but in other cities. I am recommended what I know are so good.

Tips to remember: look in the colombian yellow pages and BE SURE that your doctor is PLASTIC SURGEON (cirujano plastico) never "estetic surgeon".

my doctor in Cali my surgery was not about looking better. The "treatment" is not finished, however I can say doctor Anibal Ramírez is what I wanted in a plastic doctor ( my treatment costs USD$ 400) He seems to be honest and offers excelents points of view in every detail(phone number: 57-2-5584578 email: anibalr at skytel.com.co.

You need to change your eating habits and exercise more, just like the previous posters said. Good doctors and good prices I know we shouldn't be cheap at the time we choose our plastic surgeon, but I have a plastic surgery (breast augmentation) in Bogota 2 years ago, and I pay $2000 aprox.
In united states the same surgery is up to $3500 or much more, so
I think that is a plus.
You can also call "el ministerio de salud" to verify your doctor's records and make sure he didn't have any "legal" problems with patiences after malpractice.

Most of them are reasonalble english speakers, or, they have at least- good written english(most books in health or science are in english).

I trying to be in contact with some of them...it has been hard.
Most important surgeons have not enough internet presence. Well, it is common here.

Ivo Pitanguy Yes, Ivo is considered "the master". The best part of this trainin is about being creative with every problem to solve. Different happens with doctors in US. They are so restrictives and worrries to stay one step more than traditional surgery.
Also you have to consider that there are a risk in being more "creatives".

i dont get it.. i've seen billboard advertisment for breast implants in CALIF for $3000USD(for a pair) with US doctors. I thought in COL they were $1500 USD, so after all the airflight/hotels, etc., added you'll only save a little. At least if you have it done in the US, any problems, you have medical and legal recourse.

Plastic Surgery I am getting Lasic surgery done this morning here in Bogota at a very famous clinic; Clinica Barraquer owned by Dr. Julio Barraquer. He has recommended a personal friend of his to do my upper and lower eye lids. I met with this doctor and was very impressed. His prices are for everyone not just Gringo prices. He advertises at all the high end Body Tech Gyms here in Bogota and has been in business for 14 years. His cost to me is $950 US. I think that is pretty good! Other doctors here charge much more and I thought they did not look too professional to me! This doctor comes with all the credentials and an excellent recommendation from Dr. Barraquer. I feel that Julio must be a very very rich man even according to Gringo standards lol.

i'm colombian and i had surgery done in my hometown, Barranquilla. My mom is a doctor so i absolutely trusted her and her friends (anaesthesiologists, dietists and docs) at finding my doc. I finally did it with dr. Valiente, took me less than a week to make up my mind, only went to one consultation and he sent me get some exams and run some tests and then we scheduled it for 4 days later. I went to the beach and relaxed before my surgery and then went early in the morning to the hospital, it was ok, didn't feel a thing. Last thing i remember was a woman i know (a doctor's wife) going out of her surgery (in a hospital bed) and she was still sedated but saying it hurted although she wasn't really conscious. Then i fell asleep (they made me count up to ten and i only got to 7 i guess and passed out hahah) and then when i woke up i was thirsty, 2 hours later i was at home feeling just like nothing had happened, and then i was VERY happy with the results.
