piss poor performance by Colombian football team

Anyone else watch the match vs Panama.

Panama deserved to win that one, a bloody disgrace the way Colombia played. They were lucky to only lose 1-0. IMHO

Yeah, I saw it and I'm glad I decided not to go because I knew this was going to happen. The problem is that that was NOT the real colombian national team. Just look at all the top players that were missing:

No Juan Pablo Angel (Aston Villa). No Ivan Ramiro Córdoba (Inter Milan). No Mario Yepes (Paris St. Germain). No Luis Amaranto Perea (Atletico Madrid). No Fabian Vargas (Boca Juniors). No Luis Gabriel Rey (Morelia of Mexico). No John Viafara (Portsmouth). No Edixon Perea (Atletico Nacional de Medellin: champion of the colombian league). No Elkin Soto. (Once Caldas) No Hugo Rodallega (Deportivo Cali), etc.

The colombian football federation needs to stop taking a bunch of no-name players to these tournaments or friendlies because the only thing they end up doing is bring shame to Colombia's good name in world football by losing to teams like Panamá. I mean, what's the point of bringing these guys? They say it's so they can "try out" new players, but it's the guys I mentioned above who will ultimately be playing in the last few World Cup qualifiers and subsequently in the World Cup (if we qualify), not the bozos who played tonight.

The colombian coach or the federation need to take these tournaments more seriously and aim to actually win them by sending the country's top players, and not see these competitions mainly as opportunities to try out new, inexperienced people who end up losing to second-rate teams.

tressor can anyone explain to me why in the world did they take out tressor moreno.. he is the motor to the seleccion and was playing very well in the first half.. they also had some good players on the bench like jair benitez who should have started instead of passo on the left flank.. if anyone could answer this question it would be awsome.. it was a dissapointing game and all thought even without all our good players being there we can still advance to the next round and win this cup.. one thing though .. tressor will need to be on the field..

IMHO a country with a population as large as Colombia ought to be able to field even a B team that can beat Panama. It wasn't just that they weren't the A team it was that they didn't play with heart, there was no fire, no spark. Panama's passing was crisp and accurate, Colombia's was ill-timed and frankly amateurish by comparison. Around the goal Colombia constantly misfired, there was no finese, no finishing. Panama was unfortunate that they didn't have at least one more goal. In the air both teams looked a bit clumsy but that is not either teams strongpoint.

Did anyone count how many yellow cards were handed out to each team, there was a lot of kicking ala Becks.

It will be interesting to see how the Colombian press covers this match.

Hold on now.... That's the problem I hav with these so called "friendly game". Some friendly games are a real preparation for a game of real significance. But Panama??? Panama is the WORST teams on CONCACAF. So what is Colombia going to do? Do you want them to risk injury playing a team that is absolutely a joke. It is easily in the bottom 10% of all the teams that are playing in the elimination rounds at this point.

This friendly game required that Colombia just go through the motions. The three games that they played in Barranquilla recently, really showed that they are capable of rising to the occassion when "the heat is on."
