background story When i arrived at the street it was FILLED with people and they were not letting people thru, because people would cut in line and sit in front of the people that arrived. Using my charm, i polited asked in spanish,¨por favor, yo turista de estados unidos, permitime tomar fotos?¨ well col, being friendly as they are allow me to cut in front of them and get to the street, where the police allowed me full access. As usual, being asian, tons of folks on the street were yelling, ¨CHINO! CHINO!¨ and i would walk over and take fotos then showed them, they would really go wild, offering me shot of aguadentie and one group even wanted me to kiss this cute girl. They were yelling, ¨BESO, BESO!¨, i declined because she looked under 18! The fotos you see of the people on the street were those group and i took fotos of the kids and showed them. They really like it. All that people skill came in handy later.

People that would try to go from one side of the street to another, really got hassled by the folks sitting already. It took police presence and help to allow groups of people to cross the street. When one group try to cut and sit in front, it would start a riot, with people really yelling and calling the police. You can see the fotos of those situation.

Well, i was taking the fotos of those and saw a group of police standing around talking about it. I figure, like a good reporter to take foto of them, well then they really go pissed, and start escorting me off the street. I was talking to them in spanish, asking what the problem, they wouldn´t tell me. But kept pushing me out, at this point the crowd saw this happening and start going crazy, yelling to the cops in spanish, ¨leave the chino alone!¨ or ¨let the chino go!¨, one of my amigas came over and started talking to the cops telling them i was only taking fotos of the parade. After a bit, they relent and let me go, i apologize and even showed them the foto i took, and delete the foto of the group of cops, in front of them. They don´t care if you take foto of them WITH civilians, but i guess you cant have one of them only.

Right before the main parade starts, the mayor comes by and the people would go wild too. You can see him as the young guy that shaking hands with the people.

Thanks for the Pics. I am in the States for 3 weeks and really miss my home in Sabaneta. I am really looking forward to hanging out along the river enjoying this years decorations. I had to chuckle at your story as the people of Medellin are always coming to my aid also. Maybe you can post some fotos of the riverwalk decorations. They were looking pretty spectacular (as usual) this year!

Live your fantasies because life is short and from all I've seen death is really, really long....
