Saltador,

A SMALL dead cat bounce, lets see what happens after a bit of time has passed and we are out of the summer season when there is less trading going on.

I was looking on UBS today and their 1 year target is 2250 I believe. However, their 1 and 3 month targets are both below the current rate slightly and havent changed in the last 2 months. So, take it however you want.

I dont know about something as thinly traded as COP, but its starting to look like a breakout. Maybe some black boxes will come in and bring this dead cat back to life!

I got the going exchange rate from here:
http://investigaciones.bancolombia.com/InvEconomicas/(5yuhzg55zwxtnw55yiuh5m45)/Cotizaciones/Monedas.aspx?C=B#49

Some PBH poster said it was the official rate. Showing 1979 now...
I'll go with Pedro from the list above.

gringoloid,

"colombia=commodity driven economy"

Agree

"us dollar.....weak for awhile......value of commodities exports raises peso"
"us dollar.... now strengthens......commodity export value decreases"
"col peso.......weakens"

Part agree, if the amount of commodities being exported is stable, overall I expect Colombias commodity exports to be increasing, plus I don't see any overall drop in commodity prices coming, most of the drop is all ready done, although I still think oil should drop back below $100, to the $70-80 range, but I expect it is to soon for that.

I still see the peso gradually strengthening, but nothing like the amount it has since it overshot fair value and nearly hit 3,000 pesos to the dollar.

gringoloid,

End of year predictions are just a guess, I generally make it a band, hence why I never gave a number before, my band for instance was 2,000-2,100 for the end of 2007, for the end of 2008, due to the credit crunch problems, I expanded my band and thought that the peso would be 1,900-2,100 by the end of 2008.

But I may as well play the game, 1,800.
