I have a Colombian friend who has a multiple entry US visa for business. I believe it's called a B-1. The visa specifically states the company for whom this person works and the city it's located in. If this person travels to the USA on vacation is there any real danger of them being forced to prove they have a business purpose for the trip? Ie. is the immigration person going to say, "IF your company is in Seattle why are you going to New York? Can you prove to me it's for work?"

Gator says on Apr 20, 2005, 20:27: B1/B2 visas are... both Non-Immigrant Visas and you may well have been issued a joint B1/B2 visa. Since both are for TEMPORARY stays in the USA and neither allow working for a salary you will have no problem. Since the B-1 is usually good for ten years immigration has no idea of where you are going to conduct business. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . |

Mr. Hollywood says on Apr 23, 2005, 18:25: Thanks It's a B1 only, with the company name and address stamped on the visa. I'm glad for my friend, though to hear that it's not a rigorously enforced rule. She travels on business and also has family in other parts of the USA she'd like to visit while there.
