I'll be in Pereira in a couple of months and wondering what would be the best way to get to Medellin from Pereira? I've heard that taking the bus is dangerous including during the daytime. Please tell me the best way. I've checked the flights but are very expensive, around $325.

kiwi says on Mar 3, 2005, 06:54: relax and enjoy the cheap bus ride don´t waste your cash flying, the one way fare on the top bus line is $30,000 pesos, takes 4-5 hours. as for safety don´t be paranoid, i just went from Santa Marta to Medellin on an overnight bus, 16 hours, cost $70,000 pesos, no problemo.

marcopolo says on Mar 3, 2005, 12:47: Go ahead, take the bus Bus is cheap and secure. Don't think it twice. Flota de Occidente buses take you in 5 hours from pereira to medellin for around 30.000 pesos. Take the lunch they offer as optional, it's nice. Travel during the day time. Enjoy the landscape of La Pintada and Alto de Minas.
