Pelota de Letras

You know that you understand at least something about Colombians and Colombia when the funniest thing you've ***ever*** heard ('coz dammit it's all true) is Pelota de Letras.

For those of you learning Spanish, it is a great way to test your comprehension.

Positively guaranteed to drive anyone who knows the culture into stitches.

Isn't that the stand-up comedy routine by Andres Lopez? That guy must have a good sense of humor to be a scientologist.

Simon, Yes it is the comedy routine (tour de force, it's a long show). I'm not quite sure what else you are trying to say......?

Um yes Spanish He's a funny guy, but so much of the humour is *soo* Colombian, I don't think than an English version would capture it. The DVD does have English subtitles, but they really fall flat.

Yeah, I've seen it and laughed recognizing tanta colombianada... I laughed for the first half hour, then it started getting old, and then it seemed like it was Colombia-bashing, burlando de todo, bien, pero Colombia no es solo las mamas diciendo, "queda termanantamente prohibido" con los gestos esos conocidos por todos nosotros...

I wouldn’t consider it only Colombian.
It has a universal appeal

IT IS UNBELIEVABLE... and I am Canadian...

Everything he talks about with families does not only reference Latin Americans, but everyone.

Agree Lola The first third or so is definitely more Colombian-centred, the rest addresses more universal themes.

Lola did you see it in Spanish or read the English subtitles? I didn't find that the subtitles captured it very well at all...

I realy love this guy You cannot say there was not one parent, aunt, uncle, or grandparent from your childhood who did not act and say some of the things that Andres reflects upon in his show.
I don't speak spanish... my wife is colombian.
